Sorry for the long post but i just got to get it out there!

Ok from what I've experience as of right now people are always bashing almost anything that is basically not jdm "RICE"! I am pretty sure that everyone or most of you have your days of wow that bodykit is freaking cool, awesome, sick, etc... I guess now the trend is JDM and maybe also merging to VIP a little depending on what cars you have. I just think that it is retarded how people make fun of others saying damn your car is RICED out meaning (it's ugly or your trying wayyyy too hard!) if thats what you think then most likely you would be a hypocrite. Example would be when Fast and the Furious 1 came out after that like all the cars I've seen have huge body kits and stuff and personally i thought it was pretty cool myself. So what I'm trying to say is that i dont think all JDM parts are good just some of them and some of them are just lame also haha and wayyy too over priced! but what can I say right? you gotta pay to play the game. I think that to each and everyone they have different tastes of things. Some may still like bodykits and some may not so just leave them be and quit bashing on them if that's what they like. To me i would say if any parts is a quality part then i will always consider it! That means they gotta be good fitment, better performance wise, better materials used, and have a purpose for it. I would say the best car out there are cars that are different and unique. For example Moonsi's car its got fender flares with low offset rims and it draws soo much attention to it since it's a different route he took and made it his own (will that is also including a lot of his jdm mods too but that is no the point haha).

Everything is "rice".

Who cares.... build your car how you like it, end of story. If your building your car for other reasons you'll be in and out in no time.

I was suprised how many people on here give alot of people crap about rice like is type R decals on a us SI is that rice? I went with JDM bumpers and side skirts I would say I am more UKDM influenced. After I bought my ep this fall I found this Car and I love the black on black look and I made mine look sort of like this one. I still love the big rim low profile tire look. I would say do what ever you want to your car I did.

choices are very limited for the ep3 in terms of exterior. Outside of jdm stuff, there are only like a handful of nice kits out there.

i respect other peoples choices. if you get a body kit/rims/neons/etc. and post ON THE INTERNET that you are wanting OPINIONS and get BUTT HURT by the comments, whether good or bad, then do not post up. i am a fan of everything. everyone has their own style.

It's true...
I've been thinking the same thing as you are lately.

People bash everything that isn't JDM. It's true that that is the current trend. Like how everyone has to wear expensive clothes these days even though they are on welfare. Trends trends trends...

Shit, I like alot of JDM stuff but then there are some kits that look great. Buddy club looks nice, as well as the eBay-ish M-style lip.

You can go with a body kit and still have the clean-and-simple look. According to most people, though, Mugen/OEM Type R or RICE.

All of the above posts hit the nails on the head. There is a big emphasis on JDM JDM JDM. a simple "JDM Civic" search on Ebay will get you at least 4000 items.

I personally love the look of the JDM 02-03 front bumper, but with the price tag attached to it, the attraction is slowly gone. Bumper + Lip + rebar = meh. Is it really worth it to get a bumper thats a little bit smaller with no sidemarkers? If i had a money tree I'd buy it cuz i like the look and I would appreciate the OEM quality. But since i don't have a money tree, I'd rather put that money somewhere else.

Thats my opinion anyways.

the term rice has been over-used. just do what you like and dont worry about what others think, cause no matter if you go with the oem, jdm, or clean look, someone will always think you car is rice, simply because it is a honda.

I don't hear that word much... only a few times at some fights (not going to mention what type of animals) and from central cali too.. :meek:...

Anything JDM FTW if u can afford it.. rice or not, it's JDM

I will also add non authentic JDM items are most likely rice but some cars can pull it off and make it clean rice.. which is also a big thumbs up in my book.. kinda like my USDM approved EP..

I was originally gonna stay USDM but something unfortunate happened to my motor and got into a situation where I have no choice but to put in another motor and chose to get a K20A and just thought why not just go ahead and go "JDM" all the way. Im done with my EP as far as modding is concerned.

To me i would say if any parts is a quality part then i will always consider it! That means they gotta be good fitment, better performance wise, better materials used, and have a purpose for it.

I think this is what differentiates "rice" from not "rice". This is also the reason why JDM is popular, and what a lot of people strive for. It is built by Honda, has perfect fitment, and is made of quality materials. When you put APC on your car, or some ebay body kit you are not getting quality parts, or fitment. It would be very hard (although there are companies that can do it) to make something that flows with a cars lines better than the engineers who designed that car.

Off brand wheels, off brand seats, off brand kits etc just aren't usually made with the same quality as the high end stuff. When I see wheels that are off brand I don't so much not like how they look, but the way they look is usually indicative of bad casts, poor engineering, heavy wheels etc, etc.

So to me JDM means I am getting OEM quality, OEM fitment, and isn't a Shogun Kit that is the same shape for 50 cars with different attachment points. Hope that makes sense.

I've never bashed on anyone that had a bodykit. but i would bash on them if it was huge and was not color matched. As for all the fast and furious movies they are awesome for being rediculous, but atleast its about cars or have nice cars in the movie so watev. everyone has their likes and dislikes just watev. Personally I think everyone on ephatch is respectful and thats how it should be.

jdm is nice.. if i had the money i would buy it. its not rice at all. rice is a giant wing on an early 90s ford escort spraypainted flat back with the most raspy exhaust possible like this kids in my high school.

I agree with the quality of parts therom. Quality is something that should not be messed with especially when modding your car. It can cause your death at the most extreme case. If your rim snaps or an axle breaks or something of that extremity, doing a hundred on the freeway your done. But JDM is a fad, but clean and simple will always be around with the two being mixed together and then everyone else's flavor, were all rice. Carbon fiber for the longest time was rice now its in... i dont think anyone should be able to use that term.. "RICE"... its over used and hypicritical... people are in the game because its what they like to do and there hobby (for the most part) why knock them down when there having fun and contributing to the game just like you are..

thats all i have to say... :2cents:

just have fun modding "YOUR" car and dont modd for them modd for your likeings although opinons are helpful at times..

imo

its quality that counts. jdm nor not, i seen some home grown parts that i would love to have on my car. conversly i have seen some jdm parts that i think should never have been desighned. if it works, looks good, and most importantly does what its supposed to reliably, i dont care where it came from.

my current list of parts include an ARC box and pipe, brian crower stage threes, act fly wheel, exeddy stage one.... and some other stuff. im not going to buy something just because its from the mother land, nor will i turn something down thats quality and home grown.

JDM is the way to go...gives you a nice respectable look for your car.....if your not gonna put JDM parts on your car stay OEM thats how I feel because all that altezza lights , chrome wheels and body kits unless (JDM type R) looks horrible..just my opinion.

Godhand

I think that a good combination is the best way to go. Do whatever it takes to be different. I'm planning on getting a kevlar hatch and hood to go with my c/f wing and front lip. I think it will look different enough for me to stand out of the pack, and not in a totally bad way....or maybe it will. But there is only one way to find out and that's just to do it.

USDM, EDM, JDM, fuck em all. I'll take what I think looks best.

HFP appears to be more rare too. anyone can have a replica mugen/CTR setup. only one way to have an HFP kit. i wish i would have bought my ep with the HFP kit. NHBP + HFP = sexay.

1. epmex, how'd you shave your bumper lights off?? where?? how much??

2. to the op. it's your car, do what you want! right now i get shit for rockin my USDM CTR rep lip because i spray painted it flat black until i have time to get it painted. but it doesn't bother me because it's what i want. it's the same reason why we all spend our hard earned cash on parts, the reason we mod our cars in the first place, to make them our own. if you like it then do it! and fuck anyone who tries to put you down. even if you don't like it, the owner's time and money is in the final product. most people like the JDM and EDM stuff because it has a nice OEM fit and is more aesthetically appealing. my .02

i agree that you shoould just make your car how you like it and not everyone else's opinion....personally i went the jdm route because I hate fiberglass and the parts came painted so its a easy set-up but more costly of course over any other route. Do you-dont worry bout them.....
