Hi all, i'm new to the forums!

My brother sold me his 02 ssm ep3 so i thought i'd introduce myself here and start reading up on mods and what not. It's currently lowered on coilovers and I have 16'' rota slips on order..other then that it's stock. I'm planning on an a2 swap in a few months so i figure i catch up on my reading first..will take pictures once the wheels are mounted!

Cool you're from Toronto. I see people from Toronto posting on here, but I RARELY see EP3's around. but then again i don't live in Markham. I've heard there are TONS in Markham.

if you see a NHBP ep3 thats keyed on both doors and both rear quarter panels, thats me !

haha i'm actually up in stouffville..but I go to school at york so i'll be commuting to school come fall..i'm also working downtown so i'll be around the city..i'll be sure to make it out to the meets when they come around!

quick question:

whats the significance of an RBC and IMG?..I've seen these parts in many of the build threads and i wanted to know exactly what they do.

Thanks!

basically give you more cooler air. cooler air = power. but you need some other mods in order to get the most gains out of the mods.

Hello hello. I would n't worry about the RBC if you plan on doing a swap. it's the code for the intake manifold of a FG2/FA5...does more harm(to power) than good on a stock A3.

welcome nathan!

and are we to assume you will put the rbc on the a2 swap you want to do or to your a3 for now?

i'd be putting it on the a2 swap..but i'd like to do all my research first before anything..i don't think i'll be doing anything to the a3 motor knowing i'll be swaping it anyway..i'm not sure if parts are interchangable or not..i'm looking to make around 200whp with the a2 which i think is pretty achievable..i've seen some pretty impressive numbers from people on the forums..shadowMD made 228 or somewhere around there i think?..i thought about going f/i but with climbing gas prices and the car being my d/d, n/a seems like the way to go. Any input is appreciated!

another question for everyone..if i were to get a header, intake, and catback for the a3 motor, can i re-use them when i do the a2 swap?..what other mods would be interchangable between the 2?

Don't put bolt-ons on the A3, get the A2 in there first. Most stuff will transfer over just fine, like a good CAI, but when you get into headers and exhausts, there's a slight difference (3 inches, actually) in exhaust lengths between RSX-S specific pieces and EP3 specific pieces. If you want a mod for your A3, grab something like an Injen CAI (EP3 specific fits both engines, it's fitted for the engine bay and the engines are identical in size), but I'd get an A2 in there before I even bothered putting some loud exhaust system on it... just my two cents.

You're gonna friggin love the A2, I promise. Get an HFP kit and some Depo "JDM" lights too and we'll be twins :P

I agree with everyone else, get the A2 first before mod anything else. You will need an A2 header though, as the A2 has bigger exhaust ports than the A3. From what I remember the A2 header is longer, but if you get an A2 cat convertor and midpipe, it'll bolt up to the factory muffler without having to cut anything. But look around and read, lots of information from other people's experiences.

welcome to the Hatch. So much info here it will blow your mind. Good luck on the A2 swap; I wish I could do this but cash flow always seems to be an issue. Maybe someday:mcry:
