You can benefit from an lsd by using even the lowly stock k20a3. I don't see why it's necessary to have a motor swap and double the hp if you have an lsd.

Pretty sure Windchaser is saying it will fail sooner on a more powerful setup.

And I'm saying that there are people out there who would buy an lsd with the intention of keeping the stock motor relatively stock. If someone has the money to just throw down on a quaife, then they can do a k20a2 swap or a tsx swap and put another few thousand on top with a turbo.

if some of the people questions the obx lsd, please walk ur way to k20a.org to search the numerous threads there.

there is a eph member that has an obx for over 20k (by now)

Shit, if I had the money for a 300whp K24 then springing for a quaife wouldn't be too big of a deal.

i know what your saying, but thats not the point im trying to make. every time someone brings up the differential there are haters that say "it wont last 200 miles" or "my friends friend has one and blew it up after 200 miles"

thats all i was pointing out, they do last longer then 200 miles :mcool:

actually i have done research on this forum, because i like to post ambiguous topic names, and it gets more hits when people dont know what your talking about, because people are curious creatures...

The OBX LSD is a great option for a stock A3, as long as it is reworked and reassembled properly.

honestly i took mine apart and there wasnt a bur to be found all the surfaces had a nice finish with nicely chamfered edges. But i still rounded the chamfers a little because i was bored (living alone sucks :mfrown: ) also all my washers were in the correct sequence!

I know of a guy who had a built K24 with the Brian Crower stroker kit which made his motor around 2.7L and I believe he was putting down almost 300 whp N/A. He had an OBX LSD and he'd launch it hard with no problems.

The setup was built by Suja1 motoring in Carol Stream.

Jake, 20Civic02Si, has been running his OBX for like 65K and he autocrosses and drives hard most of the time.

Plus there's a million threads on HT about guys just simply rebuilding these and using them in high HP drag racing setups.

Yea i know what you mean because that other thread talking about quaife LSD's everybody is shyting on OBX saying its cheap and no good get Quaife...Quaife is great dont get me wrong but for that money you buy another tranny..now OBX is great product for an affordable price...I also had megan headers...but i got rid of it due to it restricting power in my motor but when I had it definitely served its purpose.

OBX + some TLC = worth it

Hey Talon does this sound familiar! LOL!

Yeah guys i have had an OBX LSD installed in my car for going on over 1.5 years. As my bro Falcon7 has said i have racked roughly 65,000 mlies on it and it's working just as good as the day i had it put in. Grabs on tightly and pulls the 2,640lb beast through the corners. I attend most auto-x and track days within a couple hundred miles of Milwaukee, and i am doing quite well!

Now i know some of you may be thinking, "WOW! 65k in 1.5 years.... YEAH RIGHT!", however it's true. As many members on this site can attest my craziness. Last year i drove to Dallas/Ft. Worth just to attend a meet, as you can see i live in Wisconsin! LOL! I used to have a girlfriend that lived in Oklahoma that i drove down to see every month... So i can get quite defensive when people talk sh*t about something they have no clue about.

I have heard it all! "Why cheap out and risk your trans?", "It's going to grenade your trans!", "OBX is garbage", and my personal all time favorite! The guy that knows some guy that knew another guy that installed an OBX LSD in their car and had it completely f*ck their trans.

Now when i hear these stories about the friend that knows a friend who had it installed. First thing i'll ask is, well who installed it? Are you sure it wasn't because he installed it improper? Did he check bearing clearances? Etc....

But for all of you who are looking for a cheap Limited Slip Differential, i strongly recommend the OBX. Taking it apart to ensure it's been assembled correctly takes 15 minutes. I think 15 minutes worth of work is definitely worht saving over $600 that you would have paid on a Quaife unit! You can find DIY's all over Honda-Tech and K20a.org to help assist you through the 15 minute process!

that a2 tranny w/ lsd seems like a really good deal to me (if he did properly rebuilt the OBX LSD). LSD plus labor to install it is quite a bit of money. $750-$900 would be a good deal, anything less than that would be a steal

That i have heard as well. OEM Honda diffs were only good at numbers under 300HP. I have heard of cars with over 300HP using ITR diffs, but they didn't last long.
