one thing you should get before the install is a oil filter sandwich adapter for running the oil feed line. i had 2 brass fittings break off on me. was able to get it out the first time but not the second. so the block was sent to ERL and got fixed.:thumb:

its a safety issue. well its more like, if it breaks you may not be able to repair it, more than a safety thing. if you can find a steel/SS fitting it should be ok but brass will usually break.

you're fine with the exhaust you have. you just won't spool as quick or make as much power as you would witha bigger-less restrictive exhaust. since your in clovis(no emissions testing) you can eliminate your cat. it'll make a big difference

check my revhard DIY, the fitting that would be really good for you to get is like $25 bucks. its one fitting that has 3 outlets (feed line, oil press gauge, stock sending unit). if u dont have a gauge it comes with a fitting to fill the other hole. i got it from tuner toyz, their website is down right now or just not working for me so i cant link u

thats because u tried to use that fitting with the WRONG type of threads, you probably used an npt fitting when the threads are BSPT (British Standard Pipe Thread). If you checked the service manual prior to using the wrong fitting you would have saved yourself time and money. Oversight's a bitch lol. all hondas use bspt on oil sending units.

Dont speak out of your ass. a stainless or steel fitting will not work in that spot, see my above post. As for the exhaust, a 2.5" exhaust is good up to 256hp, anything beyond that and you are restricting the flow. Only prob with a sandwich plate is that you are sending dirty oil (because the oil there hasnt been thro the filter) to the turbo.....kinda a bad design on the sandwich plate ppl's part but w/e....sandwich plates are available anywhere, there are many different brands....some polished, some not........i had to weld mine in spots to ensure proper flow....

you'll free up a bit more power with a 70mm exhaust for sure. anything more than that the gains are negligible. not having a 70mm exhaust wont do any harm, but it would probably blow out your cat.

think of it this way, a turbocharger is a restriction in the exhaust. and since its driven off exhaust gases, ideally you'd want more flow. how much flow is entirely up to the user and its application.

I had my 2.5" downpipe fitted the stock cat and stock exhaust (1 7/8") and it was fine for months. I imagine prolonged use would melt the catyltic though, so I'd advice ditching that with a straight pipe if you can. Your Skunk2 should be fine.

what are the pros and cons of these? the 20 dollar one has my debit card kind of ichy but the 70 dollar one sounds kind of smarter due to the fact it has a spot to hook up my mechanical oil pressure guage! i need some advice! can the 20 dollar one do the same with out buying some extra shit that will go over the 70 dollar ones price?

i like this:http://www.full-race.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=33_360&osCsid=8f110ac1b1c762cd0d1f5ebcabc7cd52 (also not nessicary, bc the rev hard kit comes with wrap, but its crappy, it frays when you cut it, and you need hose clamps to hold it down. the full race its self adhesive doesnt fray and its an ease to put it. only problem is its $28 for a foot by 2 foot sheet.

the EGT is almost required if u dont have a turbo timer....stands for exhaust gas temprature. you can watch the guage and kno when its safe to turn off ur car. plus i would never instal a turbo without a boost guage of some sorts........you need to kno if ur gonna spike,......i watch my guage religiously...

yea i bought a auto meter boost gauge and oil pressure (both mechanical) already so im good to go on that plus i got a guage pod for it. i found a turbo timer already but im not going to buy it untill june. ill just sit in my car for 30 secs untill it cools down! ill put a posted note on the dash as a reminder! lol ghetto as hell but it works.

Don't cut the head off or you'll have to drill and tap it.

For the bumper you have 4 plastic clips on the rad support 2 screws on the bottom of the bumper and 1 in each wheel well and a few more clips under the bumper. Then you just pop out the sides of the bumper then from the headlights and its off

Guardian
05-31-2008, 11:20 AM
Also get a oil pan cutter its a razor blade with a spot you can tap with a hammer. Don't use a screw driver to pry it.

wastegate connects like this:

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n313/jeenyussshonda/IMG_0011-1.jpg

the vaccum line goes from this spot on the turbo:

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n313/jeenyussshonda/IMG_0020-2.jpg

and connects to the waste gate with a "t" one going to the top of the wastegate one going to the side

BOV-

hooks up form the vaccum spot on the BOV to this spot on the intake manifold

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n313/jeenyussshonda/11111111111111.jpg

and on that line going from the line on the intake manifold is always where you are going to "t" for your mechnical boost gauge:

why is there a "T" on the wastegate?

you dont really need to tee both ports off the wastegate, just use the bottom port, and lave the top open.

i used the brake booster line as my bov source, and tapped into that line for the boost gauge.

you don't need to hook up anything to it.

its usually used in higher boost set-ups to help overcome the high (BOV)spring tension

• The vacuum sensing line (top port) may be connected to any convenient intake manifold pressure source (suggested connection location is on the intake manifold plenum, since runner locations may cause pulsing, which may affect control stability).

• The boost sensing line (bottom port) may be connected to any convenient source between the turbocharger compressor discharge and throttle plate (location isn’t critical). Since most of the valve motion in controlled by intake manifold vacuum, the valve will operate without this sensing line, but will have quicker response with it connected. Suggest using a small “filter” fitting, if not used for sensing.
IMPORTANT: Do not plug this hole, it needs to be able to breath.

good job with the heatwrap its a pain but thats how it goes. one of the most important wires to wrap is the one i drew around, because the turbo sits right against it, and even with wrapping it, it burnt threw the wrap and got to the plastic loom on mine. once i saw that i wrapped it 4 layers deep :meek:

also :

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n313/jeenyussshonda/AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAApaint.jpg

that looks like the tuner toys 3 port thing am i correct? if so then why is nothing in slot 1 that i labeled?

it should go:

slot 1- oil pressure gauge fitting
slot 2- stock oil pressure gauge
slot 3- fitting for feed line

or something to that affect so its not so long, i cant tell what that gold thing is that is making it so long

thats the beauty of the tuner toys 3 port thing, its a small fitting but lets you use all 3 things u have

Looks good, might want to attach the hoses to the wastegate before you install. It's alot easier that way. If you can also, thread in your oil drain fitting too when you clock the turbo since you may have to move it to gain wrench access for the fitting. Looks good.

will do though thanks for the info!

I doubt you need to grind the manifold put those 2 nuts on first. Don't push the mani all the way on to the head get it so you can start to thread them and keep it so when you tighten them it pulls the mani closer. And alternate between the nuts

no the bolt really doesnt fit into the mani! a piece of the mami is blocking it from fully entering the hole for it. its like that on both sides! the bottom 3 fit perfectly but the top 2 are stubborn fuckers!

Guardian

They should be studs with nuts

Silverstreak
07-08-2008, 05:44 PM
Plus one on the mani. There should be studs there. Check and see if the studs came out with the nuts. It might look like a bolt. I had to unscrew the fuel rail stud a little to be able to get a nut to thread on. You can use the double nut technique. Take the two nuts from the studs and tighten them together on top of the stud. Then you will be able to use the nuts to loosen the stud like a bolt. Just do enough to be able to thread a nut on top.

With that mani it is hard to even get the nut on the stud. I dont think you will be able to get a bolt in there without grinding it down. I would not go that route though. Just put a stud back in there and do it right.

If you use a stud it will be a little easier. Get the stud in tight but not to tight. Then when you go to put the mani on, as soon as the stud starts to poke through the hole, start to put the nut on. So hold the nut on the back of the hole before the stud starts to poke out as soon as it makes contact with the nut start to thread it. Once its on there a good way you should be clear of the mani to tighten the nut in the sequence that it should be done from inside out.

Silverstreak
07-08-2008, 07:12 PM
But if you really want to use a bolt you can just grind one corner off of the bolt and see if that clears the mani. It just might.

what spring are you running in the wastegate? and do you have a MBC?

the gear problem is easy.

for the bov, try loosening it up, the greddy type-s is adjustable... and try taking it off and making sure the valve opens with your hand, you should be able to push it a little.

good luck with the bitches

im sure someone posted it already, but the.6 bar on the wastegate mans it has a 8.7 psi spring, so once you build 8.7 psi it starts letting gas out so you dont over boost.
this also answers the above posts question.
its an 8.7 psi spring, or .6 bar.
also also, the exhaust manifold not being on completely may be giving you an exhaust leak, so you cant build full boost, maybe.

why do you think you have one? an easy way to do it, get a rubber fuel line with like a 1/4" hole and with one end at your ear, put the other end against any area that you may think the leak is.

the wastegate line is supposed to be on the side, for one, not the top... that actually should create it to stay closed, so id move that.

and as for the exhaust leak, do as i said, get a rubber hose and with one end at your ear, put the other other around that side of the manifold at idle, if you have any sort of leak there(which im sure you will) you will know it

and i cant really tell where the lines for the bov are going, it looks like one is going to the manifold, but has a line T'd off? and where does the other line go?

i love this kit! i raced around all day today! merked on a couple mustangs and a type s along with some other wack ass ricers. i kept up with a modified s2000 and a turboed rx-7! i had compressor surge but i dont thinks its dangerous enough to fuck up anything. other than that i love my si! i could do this all day with her:gheyf: hahaha but yup end ranting!
