so i came across with this question...

stock USDM ep3 : 1250kg
stock JDM ep3-R: 1205kg

where does the extra 45 kg come from??

it's really weird cus type-r has extra chasis reinforcement from the dash rod and rear strut bar, which added a few pounds. Plus, type-r has beefier sway bars, which adds more weight. Then the type-r has 17" rims, front lip, rear lip, larger side skirt, larger wing. All these add up to a lot of weight.
The only weight saving I can think of from the type R are Type R seats. their seats are probably lighter.

so...where does the extra 45kg come from??

i'd say the moonroof we have. glass is heavy and i'm guessing so are the motors that open it. our cars also have bigger bumpers front and rear along with heavier rebar. also minor differences like sidemarkers, etc...all things weigh something, and everything together weighs up.

Their 17" stock rims are lighter than both our 15" and 16" stock rims.

Maybe some of the extra weight (though from what I'm not sure) was to help meet certain crash test regulations. I know that's what they had to do with the Minis when they first brought them over.

Moonroof (they have nothing but ceiling and roof up there)
Rebar (our crash regulations are the biggest reason we don't have those sexy JDM bumpers and smaller rebar)
Random pieces (they may not have the amenities of SRS, etc)

A lot of the soundproofing has been removed from the CTR to keep weight down, hence the increased cabin noise and tyre roar when travelling a high speeds. Mince actually weighs 1198kg though because it doesn't have aircon.

keep in mind that A/C was an option on type r's so the measured weight will be with out a/c

I know moonroof is one.

Don't the CTR have double wishbone suspension and we have that front macphueson struct or something.

No....Ep3 R has the EXACT same suspension set as we do. Macpherson front struts and double wishbone back suspension. They just have a larger rear sway, better chassis bracing, better dampners and springs, and a few other small odds and ends.
