i think i remember seeing some double dins installed in our car before ephatch got deleted but i would like some reassurance that this one would fit. also what's needed? the mounting kit and wiring harness, what else?

yes it will its one of the most common units.
Dash kit for double din+wire harness (for tapping into stock harness), soldering iron, solder, heat shrinks and a cigarette lighter, zip ties, time to do it the right way, wiring diagrams for head unit, wire stripper, screwdriver, and socket set with an extension <at least if i remember right..
Whatever you do SOLDER your connections and HEAT SHRINK them or I will come beat your ass personally.

I love my D3, painless install and almost looks like the car came with it.
