ice box intake is a short ram intake enclosed in a box, so help keep the hot air from the engine out, there is a intake tube coming from ither the front or bottom of the box to suply it with cold air. The pros are that it gives colder air than just a short ram, and there is not worry about sucking up water. The cons are it is more expensive for both the short ram and the ice box(some come in a package together) than a cold air intake and a cold air intake will still get colder air than a Icebox. You can find intructions on how to make your own icebox here (http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?article_id=3221) the instuctions are for a b sierse engine in an integra but the idea and prosess is the same for just about all cars.
