Well, I think it's about time for a new clutch. It's starting to be an issue. (If I shift real slow, it's ok.) I'm at 106k.

I'm assuming that a new Excedy OEM replacement is around $200. The labor, I've got to assume is around $600-$800. I'll probably need the flywheel re-surfaced if not replaced, although I'm not sure.

Am I close or way off?

yea, tho i would seriously consider throwning an lsd in there as the tranny will already be outta the car....u could prolly find some ny ephatchers that would help u with the install.....@ 106K i doubt u would need a flywheel resurface but thats pretty cheap anyways....

I'd love an LSD, but That's gonna be another grand. (Between parts and labor.)

I was just wandering what a fair price is on the part and work. (On the Clutch, that is.) :ear:

Oh I'd get Pizza and beer. :mwink: I considered trying it myself, but I'm not that confident and I live pretty far away for a visit.

I still feel the love.

Competition Clutch Stage 2 is Very Driveable and isnt too pricey either... Will hold up to 60% more Torque than Stock.

Do it yourself. I'd get the flywheel resurfaced if you can. At least take some 220 grit to it.

I paid $600 to install my clutch/flywheel and lsd. Not including the cost of the clutch/flywheel/or LSD.

That's not bad at all. Did you order the parts through them, is that why they gave you a discount? (If it is in fact, a discount.)

a. I've never done a clutch before. it's not the resurfacing of the flywheel I'm worried about ,(I'm sure a shop wouldn't charge much) it's the dis-assembly and re-assembly of all the parts to get to the tranny that's got me nervous. It may be easy, it may be hard, but would you attempt it having never even, seen it done? AKA. I'm a coward.

b. I have the majority of the tools, but not all I'd need. (High lift jack) Also, I have a mostly level surface, ok to jack up a car, but I'd be afraid of heavy components slipping out while be held by a jack, Like the engine or tranny.

c. I rely on my car as a DD. I'm 45 miles from work. (The reason I bought a reliable Honda.) I'd need it done in a timely fashion, I can't exactly catch a ride to work.

just stay away from the stealership, I think my grand total was about 1,100 for clutch, flywheel, bearing of some sort i think, and the install labor. My dad was not happy to say the least.

I was expecting something like that. I had a Sad-turd (Saturn sc1) it was also Horiz, FWD adn hard to get to, the clutch was like $200 the labor was $900.

I'm still hunting locally for a cheaper, I haven't even tried the dealership yet.

I went to the local transmission shop.

They had to hold on to the car for 3 days. (an extra day because they close at 5pm) $875 clutch+labor+tax

So much easier to push the clutch in and it shifts great now.

i got a exedy stage 2 for 300 but i paid an extra 40 to get it overnighted. and my mechanic is charging me 460 to install it. i'm hearing the labor on our car is much more extensive then normal because they have to drop the front end. normally he would charge 300-350 for any other car and 500 for an ep.
