Nah thats what I'm getting at. It's cool you like it, I'm all for it. I personally don't like it, and trying to tell me that its functional won't change my opinion because most likely I would never use it to its potential and it would end up just being an aesthetic mod.

you cut out the slot on the bumper, but leave the bottom part. then slide the rad duct in and i think its maybe drilled? or molding taped on.

J's Racing > Mugen

JK. There should be measurements on the instruction paper. Follow the measurements, but make sure you use the right rotary blade. If it's a 5 speed dremel you are using, change the speed down to 2 for precise cutting. It should slip right in after you cut out the piece from the bumper. There is a bar that goes underneath the duct with double sided tape to keep it from hanging low. You also have to drill into the rebar to mount the other part of the duct.

It's really easy, but take your time on it.

measure the back end of the duct and then mark the exact size on your bumper and a cm smaller and work from there up.. that way you dont make too big of a hole and if your calculations are off you arent boned

Why dose the carbon fiber on the rad. duct not look like it was laid stright.

BaLisTek
05-28-2008, 01:58 PM
I don't kno why its slanted.. i guess the way it was laid. Main thing i noticed is how you can actually see through the weaves of the cf vs say like seibon in which you couldn't

Windchaser
05-28-2008, 11:59 PM
Why dose the carbon fiber on the rad. duct not look like it was laid stright.

It's dry carbon. Dry carbon is laid differently because it doesn't have the FRP base like the CF parts you see from Seibon and VIS.

v1c10us
05-29-2008, 12:12 AM
Sorry, but I would rather pay more for a dry carbon piece than some retarded FRP or Aluminum shit. For Mugen, you have to pay the price.

for real.
my friend got a one off dry carbon hood for his del sol and it weighs 8 pounds(thats a large hood too)
it isnt shiny, its lighter than shit, its STIFF, my carbon fiber hood you can dent with your hand and if you knock on it it dents.
It still flexes but its much stiffer, and the weaves are so perfect its not even funny.

Its just a shame the hood was like 1100 bucks.
Dry carbon is where its at but the cost outweighs the demand.

RedSiBaron
05-29-2008, 06:32 AM
yup...single layer of dry car around foam can take 300psi across the fibers before material composite failure...trust me, ive done the tests on a carbon wing haha

3 layers, your so set, i want to say 3 straight layers with no support layer will take atleast 1200psi...its an exponential strength curve as you add heat curing and more layers...only issue is that when you add more heat for curing, though the strength curve goes up, the flexibility goes down and so do the deflection amount allowable before material memory failure, which means a failure of the material...failure occurs when something flexes and will not return to the same shape or position it occupied before...

cant wait to lay up my dry carbon panels for the race car...soooo much mold work to do though :mcry:
