alright im about to get an EP3 because ive been in love with em
since they came out. I was wondering, i know it comes with a k20a3 but i heard that its wierd on the vtec like it only uses one lobe or something
so everyone was telling me swap it with a k20a2
but.... i wanna boost it
so whats the best engine or engine hybrid to run boost on
(sorry for the noob question)

Not trying to be a dick but you should really search there is tons of info here, and "boost it" is to vague. I mean what are your power goals, budget, mechanical experience, and knowledge of the k series. If money is no object and you want around 300 hp i would go with a k24a2, if u want more then build a k24a1 with a k20a2 head etc.... do some searching and ask questions in other threads if they don't answer your question.

Just whatever you can find, k20a2 is probably the easiest to find. k24a2 seems to be the favourite, GL.

and im looking for 300+hp
money is no problem
and ive got an intermediate experience in mechanics
but my friend has been going to ITU for years
and can do anything

The best swap would be a stock K24A2 for a basically stock EP3. That would give you a super platform to start from, add some bolt-ons and you will have an awesome feeling car as a DD.

And dont even waste your time considering a K20A.

K24a2 on 8lbs of boost is a nice start. If you must build then get a k24a1 and put some forged pistons and rods in along with an a2 head.

Why do so many waste their time mentioning this one? Costs way too much to get and you get much more for your money with the K24A2 option.

imo i think the it's best to start off with a k20a2. add your basic bolts ons and see if it suits your needs. from there you can either turbo the k20a2 or swap the block and use the k20a2 head or do both!

there are many options to get your swap going. With money anything can be done. k20a3 is a lowered compression car plus the head flow less and does not have true Vtec (single lobe) Hence, less whp comparing to a k20a2.

Nice dd would be k20/k24 setup, at this platform you can slap on a SC or turbo and call it a day.

If wanting to go crazy, fully built k20/k24 plus turbo boosting around 25-30psi. At this point, kiss your traction good bye. Actually, at 14psi you would already having traction issue.

Traction issues become a problem WAY before 14psi. If the pedal was on the floor I spun my tires all the way to 4th and I was only running 10lbs. 300wtq for the lose:mconfused:

I'm no expert but I'd say you are probably better off with a k20 if you are going boosted for one main reason, power delivery. The torque from the k24, although bad ass looking on the dyno, is just going to translate into wheelspin and you going no where. With the k20, you'll have higher revs and more usable power.

Just my thoughts...
