Hey guys,

I had a couple questions as I believe this DIY used to be on here but now after the crash it seems to have dissappeared.

I am looking to do a DC5 brake conversion on my 05 EP3 as my friend has the spare parts laying around. This is to go to the larger size rotors and calipers.

Now since im already 5 lug and everything do I need to just swap on the rotors and calipers and im set or do i have to swap our the knuckles too for the caliper mounts to be correct?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

well
I don't really know but I would assume that since the rotor is bigger if you mount the caliper on the old knuckle it wouldn't fit because it would be trying to go where the old caliper was on the smaller rotor.
So I think you need the knuckle in order to get the caliper to be further out so it will fit.

The calipers should fit on the knuckle perfectly. All you really need is the caliper and rotors. You also have to deal with the sensors, but that can easily be fixed.

I believe you have to do a bunch for the Type R brembo tos to fit for the rsx-s brakes all you need are the calipers and rotors

Thanks for the quick answer man!

Would you be able to explain a little more about the sensors issue though?

I thought that if u use the type-S you need the Type S axles because the hub uses a bigger spline. i umm... "cough cough" obtained some types brakes, front and back about 2/3 weeks ago :mwink: with the axles. if its the base model u just swap. but i may be wrong.

I would just spend the $600 on a Wilwood Dynalite Big Brake Kit for up front. That's just what i did. I was worried it would throw the rear bias off, however i haven't had any issues with this.

Your axels will be fine...
Tai (CorSport) is running 350whp/300ft.lbs and still has the stock ep3 axels, from what I remember.

On another note; Would an upgrade to the 5 lug setup from the 04~05 ep3 be the same as the DC5-s setup? Is there somewhere that offers the conversion as a kit?

^ its the same, (unless your talking brembro) im doing the swap here in a couple weeks when my rotors come in from back order.

as said earlier, all you'll need is a set of rotors and the calipers/brk pads.. i did my conversion few months ago. got a set of 06 type s calipers from a totaled rsx s with a set of rotors for 200 +shipp.
brakes work fine the only thing i would change are the brake lines, stock ep are a little too short threfore i would probably upgrade it to rsx type s stnless steel brake lines.
the entire convirsion process took about an 1 1/2 with thre proper tools...

No. You can go with the base RSX or 04-05 EP3 knuckles, Type S calipers and Rotors and you will basically have the same set up as someone with an 04-05 EP3 that used the factory axles and just upgraded the rotors and calipers. Since you have to buy the 5 lug knuckles and hubs you might as well buy them off a Type S and use the bigger axles.

Kind of off this exact topic and I appologize for thread jacking very much but noone answered this question for me the first time around. I want to do this conversion as well but I have 16" wheels would everything still fit?

i haven't done the conversion myself, but i'm willing to bet good money a 16" would fit just fine considering the 02-04 rsx-s come factory equipped with 16's.

16's will fit thats one of the reasons that im doing the RSX-S swap (i can still use my OEM wheels for winter that way). The brakes pretty much completely fill the wheel on 16's.

Here you go, did the upgrade as well. 2004 RSX-S brakes under 04/05 stockies, has plenty of clearance. All you need for the 04/05's is type-s calipers, pads, and rotors, thats it. Its all direct bolt-on, no modding at all.

As stated the 16 inch rims will fit but almost all 15 inch rims will not. There was a list of about 4 15 inch rims that will fit but i am willing to bet it was lost in the crash. Posted up this info in case u decided to go with some 15's for racing.
