This is a fresh out of the crate brand new K23 RDX engine and head.

IF you wanted to swap this into your Ep3 or anyother chassis, this engine block will NOT bolt up to any K20, or K24 tranny.

if you want to use this block you can use a Accord Manual 6 speed transmission and it will bolt up to the K23 block.

you can see that there are also water ports above the exhaust ports to help cool the turbo manifold.

I was going to swap it into my old Ek. but I was thrown in jail for fighting, so I had to use the money for a lawyer instead. So I took pictures, and gave it back to honda.

it would be interesting to see it.
and be very original.

but the real question would be. why? k24 from tsx would be a much easier swap and it's been done before.

besides being able to say you're the only person with a k23 in an ep3?

well, instead of a dope ass build, you could have fab'd an awd ep...

i'm sure you can weld in new motor mount locations in the engine bay.

shoot, people are doing all sorts of random swaps. ls1 in everything under the sun. f22 into almost as many things. its possible. easy? nope.

honestly...if I came across this thread earlier in the build it would have been so possible esp since Derek at ALLIN is a master fabricator...

A few things on this. 1 - how the hell would that thing fit in our ep's with that massive oil pan let alone how tall that block is my god. 2 - do u use the k24 6 speed trans or you saying the v-6 one. 3 i assue the turbo part is prolly extra when you order a crate motor from honda. Which from what i have seen you get from the main honda website honda.com, then you just go to hfp and you can buy brand new honda motors threw that, to my understanding. I think a k20a with trans brand new was like 12k

This would be stupid to swap for the people doing it as just because im different I would rather spend it in building my k24 and moping the floor with anyone who gets a k23 for show lol. however you have a point on a AWD ep3 or even a RWD!

first, dude what are you smoking, a k20a jdm swap is NO WHERE NEAR 12K. not even if you were swapping that into a CRX,

direct quote from hmotorsonline.com
30014 - K20A ( Type R) Motor, Tranny, ECU
220 Hp 158Trq 11.5 Compression (JDM)
$ 5299.00 Plus shipping and handling.

and these DROP RIGHT IN to our cars. as far as the biggest price tag i've seen was quoted almost 10k for a shop to buy everything and do it, much lower if you do it yourself obviously.

1.) not sure about the dimentions but i'm pretty sure its identical in size to a k20, i think its a stroked k20 or a destroked k24, oil pan is a minor detail, that is, if it dosen't fit. we have pretty big oil pans ourself and i'm using the stock k24 one. as far as i've read on it its not the oil pan we are worried about, but the locale of the oil filter. which still doesn't seem like its in a bad spot unless you're trying to do turbo work behind the motor, which in that case would SUCK.

2.) you have to use the accord transmission, i don't remember if it fits, i don't think it did because i heard someone had to make a custom mount for the transmission. you have to use the accord trans because of the bolt pattern i think. the use of the accord trans includes a tsx trans, they are the same. i think the rdx trans was either too big or it was awd or something, don't remember those details.

as far as not including the turbo, minor detail, you probably don't want to waste your money on an oem turbo. a gt30r ot 35r is better suited for any kind of performance on this size motor.

i thought jpax installed this in his ek or fitted it or something. i think i remmeber it sitting in his bay, and something about making mounts at his job, with a cnc machine or something.

anyways, hope i'm correct for the most part, wish that thread was still here. it was a dream crusher.

i did forever ago. i dont remember what it says, but i know its a lot less than it used to say.
*reads*
for the record it says nothing about a "tmic" or a top-mount-intercooler - and if it does and i didnt see it, why the hell would you use it anyway?
also, i used the oil pan that came on my k24a2. fits exactly the same as my k20a3. just looks different.
if you were talking about my post, i was referring to a top mounted turbo.

sorry if i sound rude on the internetz, im drunk/tired.

I ment new not a used one. Direct from honda. Would cost around 12k. I was just curious in general i have always thought about the k23 n now i know why its not really possible, which kind of blows cuz its one of the only motors with a stock turbo, and a k series for that matter.

Hmmm... i wonder what a head gasket overlay would look like between the k23 and k20/24. I like the oil port on the block... should be easy to replicate on a k20/24.
