Im thinking of getting a AEM v2 SRI.I dont want togo cai because here in upstate NY it gets very wet and slushy in the winter. Is the v2 the best way to go for max sri hp and aggressive sound or is there a better option i should look into?

i really like my V2. sounds good when you get on it. didnt notice much of a gain though. cai is where its at if you want the best gains but chicago really isnt the place to have it. specially driving all year around.

I have a V2 myself. I love the way it sounds at 5k. CAI also isnt for me since the weather in new england sucks ass. It could be nice and warm one moment and next thing you know, its either raining or snowing.

Are these better than the v2? Im looking at them online , there cheaper than a v2 and they claim to be better tuned short rams.

Personally, I have a CAI cause it stays 100degrees in GA like 80% of the year but I have a friend w/ a v2 that enjoys it. If the weather affects you getting the cai, I'd go with the v2.

i have one and like it because its the biggest piping size. If you want a short ram, I'd say go for it. I got mine used for 100, and dropped 40 bucks on a dry flow filter, and I'm happy. slight upgrade from the standard aem sri, just need to find a way to duct air to it, grill removal perhaps?

The V2 is good if you're into rice and losing power due to heat soak. Otherwise, do the Hondata airbox mod with a custom CAI pickup. No rice but more power.

i have the v2, planning on going injen cai tho cus socal weather isnt that bad. but yeat, if you're thinking bout weather affecting the cai and you're looking for something not too costly like the mugen airbox then the v2 is ok i guess. Feels alright, sounds nice, only bad thing is the heat soak.

I am happy with my AEM V2. I could go CAI since I live in the desert and days with rain/snow are few and far between. Can't you wrap the V2 to reduce heat soak?

freind had a 99 si with SRI. I had my ep3 V2, exhaust, header, high flow cat, JRSC-S. he beat me by a car. yea u heard me right. my supercharged ep3 lost to his 99 Si that only had a SRI. dumped the v2 for an aem cold air. and now he doesnt see me. V2 garbage.

what motor did he have in his si, cus i raced my homies 99si and lost by a fender. I had v2 and type-s exhaust and he had intake and exhaust too, not sure what brand. You got a jrsc, should've got him. Mayb it wasnt the intake, you got other mods too.

um from a roll? i dont think so. doesnt take a pro to know how to shift at redline. Ive spanked lightly modded type S's and Stock 06 SI's. and u think my driving is the caus to losing to a 99 SI from a roll? dont think so. V2=crap, i just feel bad for the person that bought off me on ebay for $220

even then, you have a blower he doesnt. the only way i can see if happening is if he had a b20v motor or something but not the stock b16.

i wouldnt just come here sayin i lost to a 99 SI. i mean its embarassing. with all my mods. but im just tryin to show how much heat soak can really slow ur car down. especially with a JRSC. CAI solved that problem.

em1 same hp light no torque. ep3 same hp heavy some torque. it evens out you really have to practice driving.

Wait what are you guys saying u acually lose power when you use short rams?

you can such as on long trips when the heak soak is horrible, you're obviously not going to make the same power as you did when you just started the car up. Driving 10 minutes the car feels great, 35 minutes on the high way then you get off, stop at a redlight and you can really feel the heat soak killing the power. I have the v2, its cool to look at and hear, but it is second to a CAI. if you buy one, never pay full price. I live in PA and deal with rain and snow and what ever else dumps on us, but I think that I may just get a cai with a dry flow filter withth injen hydro gaurd over it and just take that off in winters if need be.

i dont get why u guys are so paranoid about the weather. i live in connecticut and we get our fair share of rain and snow here. now i did by a winter car so my ep3 doesnt see rain/snow anymore, BUT before my ep3 was my daily and I had to drive it in rain and snow. and as long as u dont drive like a dumbass u will be fine. ur air filter has to be submreged completely in water for u to make any damage to it. and on to of that where our air filter sits in a CAI setup its pretty protected as the plastic guard covers it. I used to have a 98 eclipse and the air filter on the cold air system would literally sit right underneath the car. all u had to do was go under the car and there it was. and even with that i NEVER had an issue due to rain or snow. just drive carefully in the bad weather and u will be fine. we have so many members on this website worldwide and honestly, how many threads have ever been posted about blown motors due to a CAI?? not many

Plus its on the left side, opposite the curb where all the puddles and rain runs to. Just dont high rev it in te rain, and stay away from lakes and a CAI will do fine. I was stupid with mine, which leads me to believe why my motor threw a rod bearing, from some sort of water getting sucked in

my sri got packed with salt when a truck passed, god knows what would happen to a cai. I think I just have such bad luck that particles defy physics to get to my engine.
