How's it going? I have just bought an Ep3 and i think its awesome, my first honda. I was looking around and i am interested in an A2 Head swap, i wanted some feedback on this swap. Did it wake your Ep3 up? Does it feel like this is the way the SI should have been made? I also want to know what everyone thinks about using Skunk2 parts to rebuild the head, cams, cam gears, springs, valve and retainers. i dont want to do to much to the Ep3 even though im sure that seems like alot. I want to build the a2 head, an intake, exhasut, header and k-pro in terms of engine performance. So any input or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Dont waste the money on a A2 head swap. Take that A2 head and put it on a K24A1 bottom end.

The A2 head on the A3 will be mediocre at best.

Skunk 2 is crap IMO.

Brain Crower is the way to go for reliable horsepower.

:werd: at least at this point and time with k-series.....they need some more R&D. trust me, i have PERSONAL experience....LOTS! :mcry:

6 TCT'S
snapped timing chain while going 80mph
having to rebuild my head
replace valves...

etc etc etc.

Skunk 2 sucks dont even waste your time on it.....Brian crower all the way....you wont be sorry messing with brian crower.....and instead of buying a a2 head swap just buy a k24 motor and swap it in your ep3 will definitely pull harder then a a2 swap on your stock a3 motor

Ok i left a little piece of info out... the car has 10,000 miles on it so i dont wanna scrap a brand new engine i just want to give this one a little bit of a wake up

Wake it up with some Boost. The K20a3 response very nicely to it.

I was thinking of boosting but i just got done with an eclipse gst and wanted to try something else

supercharger or turbo kit works very well. you can run 10 psi very nicely.

Do what I am doing. I dont want to scrap my 40000 miles K20A3.

So, what I am doing to satisfy myself is getting something new one at a time. Each time I get something new, I feel satisfied.

Get an intake; next 3 months or less, get a header; next exhaust; then kpro; then a supercharger.

It's a technique called "rewarding/treating yourself"

Then don't scrap it! Sell it and recoup some of the cost of the swap or save it for a rainy day...

i really wanted to get an a2 head and build it, i figured it would make more power but from what i'm reading i guess its not worth it, so i guess for now i'm gonna settle for an intake, header, exhaust and a reflash... thank you to everyone who posted, all very good information and suggestions anymore just keep the coming

Yeah seriously don't put an a2 head on the a3. I would get kpro though. Go for a 6spd...it seriously wakes up the car.

how difficult would it be to put a 6spd tranny in place of the stock 5?

its not hard at all, just swap the trannys if you have the 6 speed ready to go. its about a 2~3 hour job. faster if you have a lift!~

but how do highway rpm compare with the 6 speed to our stock 5 speed on the stock bottom not reving past 7500rpm. I have cai, header, exhaust, bcss, 05 type-s clutch and 05 type-s f1 10.25 pound flywheel, esmm's. I rev to 7500rpm, and would love to swap to the six speed. Is the rpm at 80mph lower than with the 5 speed?

at 80mph with the 6spd im at around 3550-3600rpms. i don't hit 4k til 90pmh or so. my normal cruising speed is 75-80 so its nice to have it below 4k rpms

how much would a 6 speed usually run for, say from an rsx at a junkyard?

i would go through a forum member for a trans. imho because most honda/acura wrecking yards with newer cars are mostly used for shops that do a lot of insurance jobs so u will through the roof for a good conditioned trans.!

Shadowmd, is that going to be the same rpm at 80 with the k20a3 though, is the transmission even worth doing on the a3 cuz I am very very interrested in this swap then getting the motor later on
