i saw this when i took my vavle cover off, do you guys think the cam is messed up or is this normal wear, car has 77k on it. pics below. Thanks

well do you know where i could find cams for my car? i don't need to upgrade just stock, but i can't find any.

best bet is to buy them used off someone on the site. post a wtb thread on here or clubrsx and you should find some pretty quick.

Why not upgrade, you can run stage ones without upgrading your valve springs/retainers. And the cost of A3/A1 cams aren't that high.

That's bad...it's a factory defect, do a search on cam galling and you should find the letter to send to honda. If you are under warranty they will replace them free of charge, same goes normally if you fight hard enough as they are aware of the problem, but will only admit to it after you give them some crap about it snd show pictures of other peoples cams who had the same problem. Yours is just beginning to gall, that whole area on mine was gone and in the oil filter. Take it to the dealer you got it from and put some pressure on them especially if you have warranty. that sucks dude...yah my plan has always been if my cams did that, id just switch to a stage 1 cam of some sort

Wow, that's more f'ed than mine was...

Also, I would think that the a1 head would need kpro as it flows much better than the a3 head; someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

When mine did that, I went to stage 1 cams mainly because the factory cams were going to cost more than the aftermarket cams. Your looks worse than mine did. I bet it's ticking like crazy.

no ticking at all, i wish (a little) then i would haven know something was going on. I found it just by chance.

holy shit , normal wear like aids is normal wear on africa!!! i say just get oem replacements or if you are going to get upgraded cams get that shit ported w/ a nice valve job.

no k-pro needed for a1 head. But if you have full bolt-ons you can run into leaning issues w/o it. I would say stage 1's.

yeah, upgrade to skunk2 stage 1 cams. kpro isn't required.

Just found out mine was messed up also. Exhaust camshaft lobe over cylinder 4. It looked more like a U-joint.

shit now that i look at it i think my #4 looks just like that, how long do you guys think i can drive on these for till i get change them out these dam cams are pissing me off :mad2:

im trying not to drive mine anywhere. It seems to get worse everytime i start it up. Im looking for a K24a1 head and doing a little research on it.

i have a set of k24a1 cams , i am sure it'lll work for the a3 head. i'll let it go real cheap. just pm me if you need them!

the a1 head should be a direct swap on. i have not done it myself but im pretty sure it is. my cams did the same thing.

you know you can change that, just go to user cp in the top left, and its in there to change it.

I had two that looked like that, one was worn almost all the way down so that it didn't even engage the roller, good luck.
