Im gettin an aluminum coated midpipe, is the stock midpipe stainless steel or aluminum? Does aluminum rust?

aluminum coated?

you mean aluminum piping, (its not coated, its really all aluminum)
yes it rusts, and the factory piece is SS. :)-- JOE

Heheh, ok cool. Well, you live in CT and you got aluminum and actually know what yer talking bout. I feel comfortable following yer lead, I'll just save the stock in the meantime. Now if all the exhaust shop guys would stop taking their vacations.....;)

aluminum rusts?

this is news to me - esp considering that aluminum is one of the favorite choices of boat makers b/c of it's light weight and rust resistance - requires no coating and will not rust.

Also, the stock exhaust is not stainless steel as far as I know, it's just aluminized mild steel. Pretty durable, but will rust over time in places where roads are salted often
