just a quick question, if you downshift from 4th gear @ 3,000 RPMs to 2nd and start gunning it.. does it hurt the engine, anyway shape or form?

:noidea:, thanks guys!

Im sure it puts un needed wear and tear on the motor, but if you do it right, im sure it can handle it. But I would not recommend it!

i atleast hope ur rev matching before u do that and yes that would cause a lot of stress on the motor mounts

Okay just checking because.. I recently ran at the track stock motor, with a AEM SRI... I ran a terrible time.. So I was wondering if I got headers/ESMM/Torque Dampeners would that help my out?

(header) anytime you add anything it'll help out.. the esmm inserts will help a ton.. never been a huge fan of the torque dampner but im sure it helps out also.

true, but they also cost a million times more

The torque damper and ESMM inserts do the same thing, so there's no point in getting both. An ETD is more expensive but easier to install; inserts are cheaper, but harder. Your choice.

sometimes you do need to downshift from 4 to 2, say a sharp turn or hairpin :) if you revmatch aggresively, i do believe the motor will do just fine, especially if you run streetlite type flywheel.

rev match and the motor should be fine. regardless you are putting extra wear and tear on the tranny whether you rev match or not, but it is not as bad as just dumping the clutch and gunning it. the TD or mounts will help keep more torque to the ground so they will definatly help.

There only $100 more then the 4 stock motor mounts, plus theyll last as long as your car. Cant beat that.

I have both. Anything i can get to minimize the wheel hopping. Nothing worse than having your windsheild wipers come on while your tearing up first. lol

ahha thanks guys for the all the info.

yeah my car really let me down I was hoping for at least 16.

I ran 18, then again 17.5
:mmad:
soo.. yeah.

Guardian, you should let me barrow your turbo, (joking) If noone buys it within a few months I'll most definitely buy it off you. If we ever run into each other again I'd like you to take a look at my motor see if anythings wrong.

.. so thanks again ephatch :grouphug:

no, over the years of me driving when I race people I usually will be in 4th @3kRPM and downshift to 2nd. I'm thinking thatcouldbe leading to me having high times. I think my 60ft was around 2.2-2.8

I'm not sure I'll have to double check.
