I'm planning on getting front and rear speakers for my car and I was wondering if it is even worth getting the Type-R's cause I'm not getting an Amp I just plan on running them from the headunit. I have the Alpine CDA9856 which is like 18watts rms 50peak. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

Why waste money buying substandard audio stuff from Honda?, Just get a set of decent speakers from anywheres else, even Circuit city, Best buy type stores.

Type S = Headunit power.

Type R - Amplified power.

go with the type s

doug- alpine carries speakers branded Type S, Type R, and Type X. he wasn't talking about jacking speakers out of a Civic type r

Well that's not a very original naming convention. Of course I don't know who came first, but someone in a marketing department was a dunderhead.

16 year olds and ricers around the world new that type r meant something good and just couldn't figure out that it was and went out and bought alpine's speakers.

Do it right the first time, Type R's and throw on the $130 power pack for the alpine head units, works wonders and its a plug and play application, no running wires. :-D. I love mine!

Save and get the type-r's with an amp. I just posted my setup here not too long ago and it is very nice. But now for all my current draw from all my goodies I need an alternator upgrade. Btw ebay is your friend let me know and I will send you to the guys I bought my stuff from.
