View Full Version : skunk2 stage 2 or wait

as some may know or remember ive got a k24a1 head sitting in my closest and i just found a set of skunk2 stage 2 cams for 225, should i pick them up or should i just wait on some stage 3 cams?

ive read some things about the skunk2 valve train, what are my other options?

I wouldn't do it. (but thats a good deal)

For me, I would talk to TalonXracer (Doug) before your purchase. He might be able to give you some insite on how the cams will perform.:mredface:

i have the cams dont know when ill install them, i have only known of 1 problem with skunk 2 k20a3 cams. most problems are with the k20a2 platform.

yeah im a little weary about them because of the problems on the a2 platform..

doug if you could please share some of your knowledge on this topic it would be great

ive only seen problems with stage 2 cams from skunk 2 for the k series. i know at least 3 motors blown once they were put in

were these k20a2 or k20a3.

1 was the a2 and the other 2 were in the a3

i haven't heard anything wrong with the a3 skunk2 cams but i would try supertech valve train all my friends use it and they said its great

I have seen 2 A3 engines that had skunk cams in them when they went, one was a stg3 and the other a stage2. The stg3 was cam related in my mind, but the stg2's work fine. MAKE sure you install a new chain and TCT with the cams.

The big issues with the Junk2 cams is A2 related.


That is a decent price and will really wake up a A1 head!
