I took my EP to SF the other day and the hill almost made me stall my car, I had to burn out my tires to get up there. :mmad: hope fully the only thing that was burn was my tires and not my clutch.

Downtown Seattle is bad like that, be bone dry out and its still a pain to get up those hills, especially the older ones that are still brick.

If you really think that is bad, wait until it rains! You get used to it in about a month of driving... but I still hate parallel parking on the hills...

Hahaha...I was stuck in traffic on a rainy day in SF once with my GSR before it was stolen...I think the street was Parnasus or one of the streets going uphill on Bay or somewhere close to there...I was buring rubber and my brakes smelled like they were cooking something...never did used the parking/hand brake...well only when parking...lol

I wouldnt be able to do that, I always forget to put my parking break on when I park :mangel:

Regardless of how long I've driven manual, I'd still hate to deal with SF's hills.

honestly it's not that BAD.. there are some REALLY bad streets that are insane! but i was raised up in san francisco, so parallel parking on and off hills are really common for me.. but honestly, even though you dont want to be a newb, use the e-brake.. it's better than tapping the person behind you and having to deal with insurance

i valeted on this street before for a private event, and yes we had to do street parking, and there was a slight drizzle.. we had to park all along the this block. it was a PITA!

you would be alright. your car rolling backward as you tried to get out would tip you off:mbiggrin:

If some dumb*ss wants to get right on my tail on an incline, if I'm in a beater, I'll roll back the two inches just to tap his bumper! But I can get away with acting like I am not good with driving on the hills...

lol it seems as if most people havent driven in sf during the wet winters.

best advice is use the parking brake. or better yet learn how to drive haha

just imagine being in gear spinning tires and rolling backwards lmao

if someone wants to ride my ass that close on a hill i usually nudge back the slightest bit and they usually get the idea

slip the clutch out while you're still on the brake and heel-toe the gas.
or put the e-brake up and apply gas and remove clutch till the brakes go creeeeek, put ebrake down.
hills aren't too bad. The rain can be a bitch I'm sure, never done it, but driving to my step-dads up a dirt road that has been slushed over from snow on a hill steeper than any in san fran and having to stop to let cars go by because its a tiny road with a cliff on one side in a 5 spd suzuki sidekick that weighs like 2000 lbs is a bitch too.

if it's really bad look into getting an easy car like a BMW with Hill-Hold.

you get used to it, my parents live in a hilly ass place too. their driveway is like a 50% grade and it turns. you get the hang of how to get your car up and down. and the e-brake is your best friend... haha
