Ok so I will be purchacing a dvd, cd, navi deck soon and it will most likely be a flip up. My only problem with that is, I don't want it to block my center vents is there a way to do this?

not really, unless you custom make a bracket so that the flip out unit sits in the lower din, and the bin tray is in the upper slot where the stock radio is.

i had a flip out unit, and i love my double-din wayyy better

you could cut a plastic plate with a slight rubber backing that sits on it by friction (and the angle that our dash is at) so it looks like a block off plate, or just put a cloth over it? i dunno really. all i can say is that i've had my double din for about a year now with no problems, and i've def been in some shady areas, but maybe your area is worse?

I was looking through craigslist at one point and this guy had this DVD screen not sure about the dimensions. But he took out the cubby and the screen fit perfectly into that giant gap. Looked awsome. But just an idea

I have a pioneer flip up and its great for a long trip. But short trips it blocks the right vent completly and you cant turn it off. So your losing ac. also the ac puts allot of condensation on the back of the monitor. and in winter makes the lcd temp above 90 degrees at some times. I just got a avic D3 and it looks to be the best idea. If you do get a flip out i would look into doing the lower din instead of the top. Good luck

The two wires are for the by pass switch. the toggle broke and Im going alabama style. And the penny is a quick fix for a vibration issue. Quick fix til i can take it out and see whats loose

Pretty sure it's the Metra kit. Available at any stereo shop.

Double din radios look so much cleaner. Whenever I see a flip out tv, I think of the Fast and the Furious movies. We have evolved....

I used the metra kit. Got it from Crutchfield. You need to drill out the mounting holes in the stock bracket to get the unit to sit flush, but its not too difficult.

is that block off plate the Honda OEM one?
or did you pick that up somewhere else?

Thats exactly what i had in mind, since i leave my car outside overnight, dont want thieves thinking i have something worth stealing.

I cut the plate out of some scrap plastic I had laying around. It just sits in the opening because of the angle of the dash. No attachment needed.
