Hey, I was admiring the coloring on the new GTI's on my way to work today and it got me thinking. What do you think of a full type R kit with sides and rear lip painted flat or ruberized black? :smokin:

Just the lip kits being colored that? or the whole car?

Id love to get my car painted Cosmic Grey  but thats a lot of $$ for a good paint job

Either way it sounds like an idea that could work, but probably will look bad. Who knows, you might prove us all wrong.

Never been a carbon fiber fan really. But Ive seen plenty of cars with full carbon fiber lips that look near -black. So I thought it might work with flat black instead, though the dullness vs glossy of the rest of the exterior is where I question the choice.

Just paing the kit to match you car, it would be nice to paint the bottom portion of the lip a flat/rubbery looking black. Only if it appears that it will look right, pardon my english, it sucks today. Yadadadamean?

let me see if I got that. So paintmatch the kit to the car, but paint just the bottom edge the rubberized flat black?

Do it. Mad points for originality. However, Skunk2 has already done it-- but do it!

R-M Carizzma Flat Paint is awesome. If youre thinking of using any flat paint they make a great one! They use a flat clear coat so the paint rarely scratches. Here's some info on the product.

About R-M Carizzma Flat Paint:
"At BASF, our main business is paint, where we offer multiple brands with a variety of applications. Carizzma which is the official paint of the TV Show Overhaulin', is a line under the BASF R-M brand. Carizzma allows a reduction in the gloss level of the clear coat, giving you the option to product any color in a flat finish. The technique and the product is essentially the same as any normal paint application; the trick lies in how BASF flattens out the clear in their proprietary mix ratio.

During the application process, however, there is one difference: On a regular paint job you wet sand and buff the finish when you are done. On a flat paint job, you skip that process, allowing the paint to simply air dry or bake.

Maintenance on Carizzma is very easy: Just hand wash, dry and you're done. The paint rarely scratches because of the flat DC92/DC98 clear and you never have to wax it!!!

Now for some tasty pics

IMO it will look cheap like you didn't have the money to paint it the color of the car.

+1

reminds me of those kids who would pay $$$ for a body kit then roll around with the bumpers unpainted.
