planning to swap in a k20z3 into my ep3. want to know if i am able to use my ecu? would i need to go k-pro or is there a way around it. my ecu is bone stock, no mods.

Yes you can use your stock ECU, as long as you send it to Hondata to get it Kpro'd first.

Last poster is right - you'll need to go Kpro or get a JDM ecu... for the money, I'd go for Kpro unless you want to have reverse lockout.

YES you do need Kpro with ep3 ecu. As for reverse lock out switch, I have a switch installed right next to shifter and below hazard button. Just need some getting used to, but I'm too paranoid not to have one... I've heard some nightmare stories about ppl going into reverse from 5th... scary!

I learned the hard way, there is a reason why everyone says go K-pro whenever ppl go swappin, because its not only worth it, it makes everything soooo much easier ^^.

Is it harder to swap a z3 than a z1, or a2? can I use the A3 mounts?

if you hit reverse going from 5th you are a TOTAL RETARD and shouldn't be driving! Reverse is further over to the right than your normal downshift and a little stiffer to get in. don't worry bout the reverse lockout.

Yes, Searched it a while back, something to do with the z3 trans i think... all i remember is after i reading up on it, made me decide to stick with the a2.

Well you also have the drive by wire stuff to deal with as well. The only advantage I see the z3 having over the a2 or z1 is the factory LSD.

The thing is that i can find a really cheap z3 here, with about 5000 miles. I dont know where i read that the motor mounts were different, but dont know. has anybody here done this swap?

I believe the location of the rear engine mount is different on the z3 compared to a z1/a2. That and the dbw would prolly be the only difficulties.

subscribed. interested. an k20a is over 5k and has a crazy short gear ratio ... doesn't play well with my 100km/day commutes

k20z3 is likely easier to find as well... hopefully cheaper?

Im trying to do this, because for me it is way cheaper. Here where I live, Guatemala, we didnt get the k20a2, just the k20z3. And i can find one almost brand new for $1000.00. If i wanted an A2 it would be more than $2000.00.
