ecu reseting

So after unplugging the battery, and plugging it back in.. how many miles do i have to put on the car.. for the ecu to be refreshed and running stable.

I have to do a smog check, and the dude who was going to perform the check said that my battery was recently unplugged... and i have to put miles on the ecu, before it will be ready.
