well I had a 10000 k hid kit that looked absolutely beautiful but visibility in rain was horrible.. so I bought nokya bulbs that are rated 3500k called hyper yellow.. I didn't want to let my hid's to go to waste so I decided to wire them up with the low beams and plug them into the hole above the headlights (i drive an 03) the hid bulb fit perfectly. so I just super glued the back of the bulb to the housing.. and yes, I can get it off.. so now I have the great visibility of european yellow with the beauty of high end blue hid's. the hid's glow to the sides of the ep actually broadening my view

scratch this thread the hid melted the housing that surrounded the city light.. to the point that it dripped to the reflective headlight chrome guess its way too hot... it looked sex.. didn't last long though.

A three layer (rubber/aluminum/rubber) "gasket" would prolly help shield the headlamp assembly. Especially if the aluminum piece is allowed to extend out to both sides of the lamp so it can hit some air and cool the area. Maybe even use the aluminum piece as a bracket for mounting (instead of glue), so some of the heat is transferred to the radiator support for additional cooling. Just an idea.

Either way I bet it looked good as hell while it lasted.
