I am getting only 28 mpg combined even though I slowed down on the highway, changed the air filter, oil and filter, tranny oil and checked the tires. My car has only 50K miles so I do not need new plugs or fuel filter. Anyone getting better mileage?

I live in the middle of the country. So its like all the time highway driving but at 55-60mph tops.
Plus I only have to slow down or stop when I come to a stop sign. I like living in the middle of nowhere.
I haven't pulled more than 31mpg on a long drive in awhile. I think its was the switch from a SRI to a CAI that caused that.

I dont see how people are getting 30+ mpg, but with my K20a3 I was only getting about 22-24 mpg 90% city driving but I believe the motor was in bad shape from when I got it, it also went through oil like crazy, it eventually blew up (Broke a rod). Now I have a K24a1 and Im getting about 26-28 mpg 60/40 city/highway with i/e/rh.

going to work everyday on the interstate i used to cruise at 80mph which is 4k rpms and got me 25-26 mpg. now i cruise at 70mph which is 3500 rpms and i get 28-29 mpg. our final is the reason our mpg sucks but if you just shift in the higet gear you can and just cruise at a low speed you will get decent mpg.

Im getting 25 city, and last highway trip was 35 at 78mph the whole way. Can't wait to see what I get with my six speed going in.
K20A3 Fujita SRI/Greddy SP2/17's @ 35 PSI and driving near the speed limit I was getting between 29 and 36MPG on my road trip. That's with our luggage in the car (me and my wife). 36MPG was straight highway driving with 55-65MPH speed limits. 75MPH and combined city driving put me down to 29 - driving gently though.
Driving "normally" in the city I get 20-25MPG.

I get 26-28 mpg city but I drive seriously slow (or rather accelerate slow) almost never using the AC. I usually shift about 3000 rpm and cruise around 2000 rpm if possible. I went out into the country to trade some parts recently. It was a long way and all 55+. I drove the other 25% of the tank or so normal city more or less. I ran the air conditioning almost the entire time through that whole tank cause it was like 90 degrees and retarded humid here for days. I got 32 mpg from that tank even running the air the whole time.
ps. regular unleaded

The mid pipe is from an 04 type-s. I would say it isn't much louder, but just gives a better tone. Especially in lower RPM's.

Don't want to hijack the thread. You would also need a ITR/CTR header and cat or type-s shorty header and cat to use the mid-pipe. The o2 sensors wire will no longer be long enough so you'll need some extensions. The stock axle back bolts up fine. There are a few threads that go over this. If you have any more questions PM me and I'll be happy to answer them.

avg 240 miles per tank. i fill up when the light comes on. highest 358 miles per tank (all hwy) on 87 pump gas. i stoped and filled up when i got home and the car took 12.7 gal. mods sri/h/e/kpro. i also always use my ac (texas is freakin hot) and i also eat and talk on the phone during my 1 hr lunch breaks so that gas isnt contributing to mpg driven.

went 305 miles this week with 93 octane and LOTS of WOT runs and tuning while in open-loop. I don't think that was bad at all. Granted with 87 octane I was getting 350 miles and the price is cheaper, but right now I am learning to tune with my new addition of k-pro and once I have that down I'll be able to maximize my part throttle fuel consumption. That and I'll be switching back to a low octane tune or even the factory calibration for my 1,000 mile drive back down south in 2 weeks.
