When people put holes in the rear bumper is it to improve aerodynamics or just for looks. I don't think I have ever seen a ep3 with these types of holes in the rear bumper before.

You might just as well make a rear underpan outta sheet aluminum from the hardware store. It would be a lot more discreet.

those belong on crx's as far as im concerned
I saw them on a green crx in import tuner and they looked good, but they werent just holes like that
they were like metal plates with little screws coming out that bolt through the other side of the bumper so its not just plastic, it gave it a nice look.
But for added cool factor he had the exhaust coming out of one of the holes.

If its a dedicated track whore sure, the holes are fine. But not for a street car..

When people put holes in the rear bumper is it to improve aerodynamics or just for looks.

the functionality part of it is, the rear bumper acts like a parachute, trapping air. with the bumper "vented", the air escapes, reducing aerodynamic drag. does it look good? NO. does it work? yeah, but refer back to the previous question.

Definitely functional but ugly as hell...only for a drag car would i touch those things, I vote no!

holes in the rear . . . why not just use a parachute?

HOLES = BAD
Real diffusers = cool (but only if you drive something crazyfast)

I didn't put on the HFP rear skirt because I felt it would grab more air sticking down like it does (and I'm not lowered). Real diffusers smooth out the air flow around the back of the car, but I doubt the holes would do much for smoothing turbulent air!

That just looks ugly.
