Your wish and all that shizzle... Here is mine just fit to my EP3 Type R. Along with a tie bar and JDM ARB.

I thought the LCA's would be pretty straight forward to fit but know that the old ARB droplinks can be a pain, so thought better to be somewhere that had all the gear if you know what i mean and a garage to save me trying to do it in the road round mine.

The old Droplink on one side came off pretty easy but the other side was a pain, so in the end locking pliers were needed (clamping just in front of the ARB end) as the hex bolt was not up to the job.

Old ARB off and compared to the EDM one.

Comparing the old LCA's with the Skunk2 jobs. The Skunk items are a fair bit lighter.

A llittle copper grease on the bushes to prevent squeeking:

Putting on the tie bar and the long bolts that go through the LCA's:

Tightening up the bolts:

Putting the JDM ARB on:

Done:

And Done, very happy with these.

Well with all the other chassis mods I have done, the coilovers, cage etc etc. I am unsure weather the above will make as noticeable a difference. Certainly on the short but spirited drive home round the local twisties it did seem planted enough, though I think I will need to finaly get her on a track to really see how she goes.

I will say the car is so different to how she was this time last year, very stable, much much quicker turn in and a lot more direct. Seems to run a lot better on the whole.

Thanks for looking in :D and sorry for all the pics!.

Um I paid in stirling as I am in the UK. So I think they are around £150. I am gonna call Tony at Skunk2 tonight (if he answers lol, so will ask him then). They have just come out over here.

Hey Guys,

Here's a lil extra info about the Skunk2 DC5/EP3 LCA's and how we make ours:

"LONGER BOLTS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE GREATER STRENGTH:
In order to make the aluminum arm stronger than the factory arm, it is necessary to increase the cross sectional thickness of the aluminum arm in the mounting area. But this cannot be properly achieved unless a longer bolt is provided. If the cross sectional thickness was increased using the stock bolt, the thread engagement would be insufficient.

MOUNTING PLATES NEEDED TO PREVENT ALUMINUM DEFORMATION:
When a steel bolt is tightened directly onto aluminum, there is a tendency for the aluminum to deform over time because of the higher point load applied to the material; in otherwords, the bolt will loosen over time as the material beneath it compresses. To prevent this from happening, Skunk2’s arm utilizes a steel clamping plate that distributes the loads over a greater surface area and prevents the bolts from loosening. Again, a longer bolt is needed in order to incorporate the use of steel clamping plates.

UNIQUE SHAPE:
The reason Skunk2 uses a design which incorporates a ‘step’ where the mounting plate transitions into the beam is to eliminate stress risers that occur with the arm. Through extensive FEA analysis, we determined that conventional ‘straight and flat’ designs are all plagued by internal stress risers. In other words, if an arm is not designed properly, stresses will concentrate in various areas of the arm. The material will begin to fail (fracture) from these highly stressed areas. The way the Skunk2 arm is shaped and tapered are all a direct result of eliminating stress risers. Any properly designed arm needs to be strong first, and pretty second."

moso
07-01-2008, 11:06 PM
im not going to say amazing because i only have the rear sway bar on stock shocks with neuspeed springs (there garbage) but i noticed a diffrence the back doesnt slide off as much so i would say it is worth getting i just need to save up for coil overs and the front sway bar which i dont think i can install my self the back one is pretty easy though
