Does anyone have suggestions for an exhaust that sounds great with a nice deep tone? I dont know if its possible but does any exhaust sound quiet on the highway?

My 2cents. Get a turbo or supercharger and keep the stock exhaust. You would get more horsepower with a big exhaust, but it gets really loud and attracts police like bees to honey. Stealth for the win. If you had a turbo that put out 540 hp with a 3" exhaust my guess is that with a stock exhaust you would probably make about 505 hp. You lose some power, but then you have a fast car that quiet. If your stock muffler is looking old, go to Honda and get a new one. Down the line if you want more power you can get a header and delete the catalytic converter or a high flow cat. If you are boosted you will probably have a BOV going off so that will attract cops too, that's bad enough by itself without a 70mm Skunk2 exhaust or something. I guess I didn't answer your question whatsoever. lol Good luck. Good exhausts cost a lot of money that you could be putting towards boost instead.

Mugen Twin Loop + JDM ITR Header = Sex.

Trust me, i'm saving money for this setup just because it sounds just like I would want. :mcry:

my car came with a 3 inch custom exhaust. i hated it. couldnt talk to people in the car. i came accross a stock muffler. someone had but the axle back pipping off for some reason. so i had it welded to the 3 inch pipping. my car now has a 3 inch exhast pipe all the way directly to the muffler. it sounds so good. i love it so much. doesnt sound stock but inside the car it sounds stock. ill be using that with my cybernation kit

Agreed or you might try the Tanabe MEDALION TOURING (http://www.tanabe-usa.com/soundclips.asp#touring)

I have the Greddy Ti-C... ppl say its loud maybe from outside the car but inside its bad at all... it doesnt drone like other aftermarket exhausts. Plus it looks sexy with the burnt tip. It has that deep growl like tone. Thats my 02 cents.

Thanks,
Matt

tanabe concept g, i got it a few days ago and its everything iv been lookin for, quiet at mid rpm, can be loud when im going full throtle and that sweet deep tone, love it. HKS hi power also is really deep, but its louder than my exhaust, my brotehr has it though, fuckin awesome but the old neighbors we have always are complaining about it.

I'd recommend something like this as well. Running a straight pipe to a stock muffler sounds real good. My buddy had that setup on his EG6 and it had a nice quiet tone when taking it easy, but it was mean sounding when getting on it.

buddy of mine had a greddy sp2, JRSC, and a race header, and could barely hear him when driving around... i think that's good enough for me lol

although i have yet to see or hear an apexi ws2 on our cars...

/\ i agree with that, i have an SP2 with a race header... and theres no raspiness... and it doesnt get alot of attention with the cops, wich is always a good thing

Not sure if there's much info about this left since the EP Hatch crash. But did you try searching? There used to be tons of threads like this.

Anyway, the Apex'i WS2 is the best for sound as far as I know. I also think it's the best looking exhaust for the USDM EP3. But that's just my 2 cents.

WS2, So would it be a lil louder than stock? I will run a DC S 4-2-1 with it

ITR header, cat and midpipe. Nice sound and it will help with forced induction. Good luck on finding what you need.

People are saying Greddy SP2, but Greddy no longer makes those so they'll be really hard to find and plus it will be a used exhaust and probably kind of banged up.

I'd go with the WS2. It looks good, sounds good and is reasonably priced.

How about just a mid-pipe and stock axle-back, little louder than stock and good for a long ride. At certain RPM, it sounds like a G35 and cops don't bother you.

Yeah, I'm pretty much set on a WS2. I'd like to get a Tanabe touring medallion but its a little too expensive

If you don't want the noise, but some gain in performance. Why not just get a bigger midpipe. It will give you the roar your looking for.

buy my T1R axel back! that's what you need.
I have stock midpipe + T1R axel back now.
this combo is not loud at all. If you put on the silencer, it's close to stock.. no joke..

+1 for tanabe! those exhausts were engineered to be quiet. they were thinking with you in mind when they designed their exhaust.

I too am interested in a quiet(er) exhaust system. My car came with a magnaflow system and it's terribly loud. Unfortunately the guy I got the car from did away with the stock set up so I'm on the hunt for one.

Anyone thought about the Fujitsubo Legalis-R? Its a JDM spec catback you would have to get the RSX headers.

What do you mean you lost power??? Do you mean you felt a lost in your low end?

x2. the piping is 60mm (2.36inches or something) so I don't really see it being too restrictive? Unless the resonator and muffler are that bad

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone ran a WS2 with a race header and how it sounded?

+2 for tanabe :thumbu:

i had the touring medalion like a year ago, and it was awesome. definitely a stealthy exhaust.

kinda regret selling it :mfrown:

ws2 may be my next option some day since it cost less.

megan midpipe with stock axle back. Even stock has a deep enough growl but with the megan mid the low note is amplified a little and zero torque is lost in the lower end unlike like hks. Highway driving sounds beautiful.

I'd definately go with the evo 2.

I also was in the hunt for a quiet exhaust cause the exhaust my car came with was ridiculously loud. It was one of those ebay systems.

I heard a lot about the evo 2 and found one for a good price and bought it and now I love it. It was exactly what I was looking for. Noticed a good performance boost too.

Another vote for upgraded midpipe.
