bypass valve

hi guys, i'm close to getting the aem cai and wanted to know how low or exposed the filter is on our cars. do you think the bypass valve is necessary? does it steal hp? thnks!

I aggree AEM is the way to go...as far as how low the intake sits I wouldnt worry about it. Your not gonna suck up water unless your driving through a river. Our intake doesnt sit extremely low, but if you are worried about sucking up water you can get a bi-pass valve. Now they dont make them for our specific intake, but you can buy one from a different model (not sure which one so ask) that can substitute for it. Now you will loose a couple of horespower from the bipass valve, but if your really that worried about it...get one. Also if you get a bipass valver you can always take it off later when you wanna race...Hope this helps.
