Once or twice a week before the drought really had us in a stranglehold. You should consider a quick detailer or brush. Its more like every 2 weeks, and now it has to be at a car wash not at home due to water restrictions. Sucks.

Maybe twice a month. My driveway is really long so we just have gravel until we can afford to have concrete, so it really doesn't matter if I wash it. It gets dirty 2 seconds later.

Times in a week? Like plural?

How about 'how many times do you wash your car in a fiscal quarter?', which would be once or twice.

I wash when the season changes, sometimes more in winter if I wanna spend the dough for the local wash, helps keep the salt off.

I wash my car probably once a month. But the interior is a different story. Every 3 days I vacuum the interior, armorall the interior, windex inside windows (all around) and windex outside windows.

Every time I wash my car I apply some more Rain-x to all the exterior windows, shampoo the whole interior, clean inside lip and outside face of the rims, and MeGuires 3 Stage wax it. Alng with everything above.

Never use tire shine. I heard it dry rots the rubber. Sidewall leaks are no fun, and almost impossible to find with the rim ff the car. It will only leak with some weight on the tire.

Other than that I never wash my car.

IsaacEK

I was my car on average probably once every two weeks. With all the rain we've had around here lately, it just isn't worth washing it any more often than that.

Da90Ls
07-09-2008, 10:10 AM
If it wasn't for the brake dust n the rims. I could probably get away with washing my car only 2wice a year.

SSM is the best just for that reason. No show dirty.

I should clean the interior more, it gets dirty fast, and by dirty I mean piled up with kids toys, half eaten food from the kids, dirt from shoes, dash marks from my lady putting her feet up there, fast food containers, junk mail.....
oh well, I do what I do, after an hour commute home from 9hrs of work and facing getting the kids fed and played with and put to bed, I dont really care about the cleanliness of my car....

washing the car every other day is a really stupid waste of time, or do you take it offroading and rally racing every day? do you have constant pollen? or are there people who cannot tolerate the slightest drop of dirt or mud on their precious civics paint?

Once a day mostly if I drive it, if it needs it I'll wash it again when I get home. So that could be up to 14 times a week.

I've washed my car in the rain and then pulled it into the garage to dry it. Wheels get blown dry with a leaf blower, and it works well around the rest of the car between body panels and the hatch.

I had been, but my exhaust started to look really dull.....(i have stock axle back)i dont know if it was leaving a residue, or taking something off (other than dirt)....i stopped using it, and it seems less dull, ie: looks better.....

and i wash my car once every 1 to 2 weeks.....i used to detail the inside and out twice a week---way too much work for nothing.....

Black car I washed every week, white car I wash every month, and silver car I wash every 3-4 months.

For you guys that live in areas with water restrictions have you considered using Optimum no rinse? It requires only 2 gallons of water to wash your car since there is no rinsing involved.

On the water restrictions factor. Go to the store and buy a couple gallons of water. Over here in MD there about .89 cents each - 1.80 depends if you want to use some expensive water. I heard it makes the wash quality come out better.

Seriously though bottled water doesn't have as much metals in it as say a hose spicket, so shouldn't there be a better wash quality?

I wonder what would happen if everybody over there turned thier hoses on and let them run. Would it cause enough moisture on the ground to be evaporated and cause a rain pour?

Far fetched idea. but funny to think about. Man made rain.

Whenever I feel it needs it..
so sometimes once a week, sometimes once a month
sometimes very very frequently.
For me washing the car is more of a maintenance than wanting to look good.
I get bugs on my car and I refuse to let them sit there, bird poo can fuck your shit up so that cant stay, if it rains i'll wash it, anything that could do damage to my paint really.
My paintjob was 5 grand and I'd like to get my moneys worth out of it.

Usually once a week, wash/wax. Vacuum and detail interior every other week.

Then of course, the usual bird poop will scramble up my schedule.

Once a week, usually on Sundays. I've gotten really good at it so that I can wash/dry my car in like 20 mins.

I'd say I do a good detail/clay bar/wax job on my car about 4 times a year, so every few months.

Don't forget the interior too: just yesterday I unbolted my seats and steam cleaned the upholstery and carpet. Looks just like like new again!

You really want to detail that interior, get a Bissell Little Green Machine and shampoo your carpets and seats. Make sure you get the water out, then wait about 6 to 8 hours as the seats take a bit of time to dry. Just never do the headliner, it will end up falling (friend learned this the hard way).
