I have an 02. Stock EVERYTHING. Engine just started knocking on right turns. Also knocks on "Dips". Knock sounds like it could be anywhere and is 1 solid knock at a time. I checked a lot. Some I can think of are listed below.

Control arm/bushings are good.
Shocks/Struts are good.
Rack and Pinion are good.
No movement in the wheels.
Nothing loose in transmission/engine.
Motor mounts new/good.
Tires not hitting anything while turning.
Nothing rubbing.

Any ideas or similar problems?

Anything will help. Thanks

Ricky

Ive been trying to figure this out too, I have the exact same issues. On sharp hard turns or braking into dips. Feels like its around the front axle area. Bump for some asnwers!

maybe axles or strut bolts are loose.

can you elaborate more on the sound? Is it a genuine knock or a dong sort of sound? I was banking on the axle, but I guess I'm wrong too

The knocking sound I get from slowing down rapidly (rarely) is I think from my inner tie rods.
The other knocking I get from having passengers in the back and going around right hand turns is from the wheel hitting the lower control arm on the inside of the rim.

So..they could be different issues. I had a passenger help me pinpoint the noise and took it from there.

Axels are fine. It maybe the actual strut or springs. It is a genuine knock sound. It has gotten a bit worse. Instead of one at a time it's a 2 maybe 3 at a time. (depending on turn speed/dips/etc.) Just trying to figure out.

Wheels don't hit anything... and now my radiator is leaking.

Just a few perks of buying used...

yea sounds like from the strut and shocks area
but only happens when the car is lowered
maybe the car was lowered before and messed up the front struts

Good call, Never thought of that. I drove it around for a while and no noise. Just recently started making that knocking noise.
