Well I have this set up and it worked great for me. You wont feel the difference till you run someone that you ran before and see the final out come after the test pipe install. I gained after tuning the a/f ratio a little about a half car on my buddy.
sounds pretty good For hundred bucks to me ill probably get like 5whp out of it and the car will sound better so ill probably get it

it will sound better. but a lot louder. you dont realize how much sound the cat holds in. id give you a week before you get pulled over. i went to huntington beach area many times and san diego with my car. one time i had the cop look at me. throw his car in reverse and saw my arizona plates. then he just sat there and did nothing so i put a smirk on and just looked at him.

really depends on the exhaust. I have the greddy evo2 so it really isn't that loud unless your in the car. Test pipe and race headers have a lot of interior resonence

would header wrap help to quiet down the interior resonance? on a race header that is, or either I guess

Well they make a heat blanket that also acts kind of like a sound deadening devise but performance never means convenience. To get performance something is always going to be sacrificed

what brands of test pipes will bolt to the stock header and stock exhaust and have a place to use the mechanical o2 sensor defouler?
thats true the only reason i want the test pipe is for better flow and a little bit louder sound

I have a megan racing test pipe and I'm using the mechanical o2 sensor spark plug non-fouler.

I have the megan, its quite loud, but great for easy hp. I plan on replacing it with a RH with a welded cat, because I'm starting to care about clean air more than 5 hp these days.

It will sound a little raspier cuz the lack of restriction, and the exhaust you have.

It will be raspy with a race header though as well. I love my test pipe it is really only raspy when you let off the gas after running it hard.
