well this is the second knock sensor i have killed in the 2 years of being turboed so i guess thats not too bad. i should be ok to get on the car til i get a new knock sensor huh? i never threw any knocks since being tuned by st00pid.

if you have a k-pro, you can run it with a bad knock sensor.
the stock ecu will retard ignition timing if it reads knock. with the k-pro it goes off of fixed maps, so as long as the knock has been tuned out, you got nothin to worry about.

me neither... going on 3 years and just under 80K on the turbo.

I had to replace mine last year.

I'd take the 10 minutes to replace the sensor before ragging on the car, but that's just me.

if you have kpro the knock sensor does nothing to the way the car works as far as pulling timing

it is nothing more than a datalog tool when you have kpro to look for it so you can tune it out

he is perfectly fine with it fucked up

now if you change something and need to get tuned dont get tuned untill you get a new one

I've replaced two also. Are you on a K20 or K24?

k20a3 bottom end still

I had a K24A2 but was using the K20A3 knock sensor in it since I was still using the K20A3 wiring harness and the plugs are different. I thought that might be the problem. I've switched to the K24A2 knock sensor and I guess I'll see what happens.

it can inform you of a potentially moderate problem

That's why I replaced mine. If I start getting knock out of the blue...went lean for whatever reason...I want to know about it. I know it's not *needed* if you're using kpro, which I am, but I like having that little peace of mind. Besides, it doesn't take long to replace it.

after my head lift incident my car never flashes the knock sensor

unless i take and hit the valve cover with a ball ping

or slam it into reverse with the clutch in and sitting still

before the damn thing used to act crazy and give me the most random ghost knock

every great now and then i would get part throttle knock in the rpm range that everybody does but i was using non ethanol gas. i was tunedon e10 but we dont have e10 here in louisiana. recently a couple stations started carrying it so i started using it and my car runs better, get better mpg, and i get no knocks.

I wouldn't worry about it then. After mine went out I waited until my next oil change since I have to jack up the car anyway.

really im not all that impressed with mine

i can still spin them in third if i shift right

i had to lower the drs psi to 10 just to get some traction

squeak04si
07-19-2008, 03:41 PM
well yea im running 15psi in mine but you cant expect to get traction on any dr above 15psi
