How do I paint rims? I'm fairly new to all this so give me lots of instructions. Or should I take them to a shop? I'm pretty poor though =/

just leave them be, and slowly save up for a set.

painting wheels is fairly simple it just takes a little time. Send them and the paint out to me and ill send em back lookin fresh! i wont charge to much. lol jp

1. Clean tires and rims real good
2. Scuff them up real good with a scotch bright
3. Tape them off, i use playing cards for the back of the rims.
4. Wipe them down with acetone or mineral spirits with a lint free rag
5. Start spraying, doing light coats first. Paint the back/inside first. You don't have to cover the whole rim in the first couple coats. I normally do 2 light coats then follow up with a medium and then a nice thick coat.
6. Remove cards flip
7. Flip rim over and paint the front
8. Peel the tape and let it dry

Ive painted 7 sets of rims every set has turned out good. Other people always say use primer but i never have. If you sand em good and wipe it down with acetone the paint will stick and wont fish eye. If the rims have been painted before, get some airplane paint remover and get it all off first before you start. If you need any help let me know its really simple just takes a little time

When i first got the wheels, left em that way for a few months then got bored with em. When i got my new tires put on i decided to paint em

The best tip ever. Make sure you start early to. You don't want to have to spray one rim when theres no light outside.

truth. make a day out of it if you can. usually im against painting a wheel because alot of people half ass it, but when you take your time and prep everything properly, it can come out great

I did mine with a production paint gun in a booth. Came out great. Custom color with a matte finish clear coat.

Lots of work and time, but in the end it's worth it. So when your scuffing wheel 3 out of 4 remember keep going and don't cheap out. Do it right or it will chip.
