Hi everyone,

Currently i'm lowered on Tein H tech springs with stock shocks....
I'm trying to lower my car by another 1in or 1.5 inch but this time on hp shocks.

I'm not sure which ones should i chose either H&R 2in all around or Tanabedf210 2in (front) 2.3 (rear) ?

tnx

neither.
too soft, too low.
go with progress, they're 1.8 front 1.5 rear and they are stiffer than both of those butter springs.

H&R:thumbu:

i'm riding on tanabe right now and i hate the way the rear sags. switching to H&R in about 2 weeks or so.

have you looked at the s-techs? they are slightly stiffer than the progress and have slightly less drop

I would choose the H&Rs, but i also would go for another choice of shocks.

well i was thinking about Tokico hp non adjustable....mainly because of high rating and most people on the forum know about them.

if anyone knows about any other schocks please let me know, however non adjustable

ahhh, gotcha...

if you want an opinion on the h&rs you can contact blueep3piece...he has them and he daily drives his car in PA with crappy roads, and he has a young son, so he could probably answer any ride quality or driveability questions you might have...the drop on the h&rs is nice, but if you dont have an exhaust that fits up tight like stock, you will be scraping on everything

get bilstiens.....they are a great shock....as for springs, My advise is get lowering springs for the 02-04 rsx....they will be stiffer because the rsx is "considered " more sporty.

I am running rsx spec koni's and am very happy with them.

HPs are mainy an oem replacement, with a little more aggressive dampening, but more or less will feel & perform like oem. Their high rating it due to their low price and everyone likes to get them.

Stickies state that H&R are stiffer than Progress. Am I right?

H&Rs are one of the stiffer springs out for the EP3. they are 25-30% stiffer so that would come out to about 320lb / 510 lb FR ? <-- very rough estimation. but it varies due to it being a progressive spring.

the rears would be stiffer than that, the stechs are 515 in the rear and progress is 500 in the rear, and i think stock is around 450 in the rear???

stock is 248/440

OK i did a actual calculation and the H&R would be 310-322 lbs front and 550-572 lbs rear. So that makes it the stiffest spring for the ep you can buy off the shelf? i hope im right..:mangel:

those percentage rates are bullshit.
eibach pro-kit is supposed to be like 30 percent stiffer than stock as well and I've seen the rear springs on a press and it was 300 lbs for the first inch, an additional 100 for the second inch, and then an additional 150 for the third inch..
thats hardly stiff at all.
The H&R's were slightly stiffer at 350 for the first inch and an additional 200 for the next inch and then 300 for the inch after that
progress was 300 first inch, additional 300 second inch, and an additional 500 for the third inch..
we didn't do s-techs because no one had them
but the h and r was much softer than progress.

because they are progressive springs when they do give you a rate its the average for each inch, the s-tech average is actually 510 not 515 and progress is 500
but they are both the same in the front i believe.

my vote goes to the H&R's. get some new struts with them too.

what size rims and tires and how many finger gap all around?

ya that is why i love the H&R's everyone always tells me it looks perfect. not to low but not 4x4.

rims/rubber=17x8 +42 225/45/17

i can barely get one finger in there. actually can only get it between at a slight angle.

H&R plus some blues should do the trick right the first time

nice, thanks for the help everyone..... i think i'm going to go with hp blues and h&r springs... i will keep you posted in few weeks i should have it installed but then i'm thinking about installing tierod ends to decrease the angle of the tierods and reduce the pressure on the steering/ creaks

skip the Blues they are just stock replacements. i ended up with tokico D-specs. really good combo.

yeah, the blues are just like stock, i was going to go D-specs but lack of funds is causing KYB Gr-2s. I hear they're stiffer than stock. THose H&R springs look great, definately an option for me now.

keep saving and get the D-specs. the GR-2's are also a stock replacement. id hate to see someone pay that much for something they already have on there car.
