Well i have a set of Rota Grids 16x7 +40 coming in and im looking for a tire and size to go with it

currently i have Rota Slipstreams 15x6.5 +40 wrapped in Nitto Neo Gen 205/50/R15

Suspension wise im lowered on tokico Blues and tein S-tech

my question is what size tire would you guys go with 205 or 215 (would 225 work or be a little much) and 45 or 50
also what tire would you recomend i loved my neo gens and im leaning towards getting them again the only thing is that i just ate them up and they didn't last very long for me. and i don't want to have to be buying new tires every year.

i like how meaty the tires look now and i understand that the side wall size will more than likely have to come down with the increased rim size.

thanks

A - B - C

A = tire width
B = sidewall width (% of the tire width) it's not a direct measurement
C = wheel size

205/50/16
or
215/50/16
anywhere around there sounds good

or u can do
215/45/16

just play with the 1st two numbers.
first number should be around 205 to 225 (205 will probably give you barely slight stretch)
sidewall number should be 40 to 50

to get help on what tires to buy.. ur gonna have to tell us how much u are looking to spend.

look through the tires on tirerack.com

price wise i don't mind spending a little to have a nice tire that will last but can handle some weekend spirited driving.

I would suggest that you spend a some time becoming acquainted with Tire Rack's website. You can compare different tires by specific size, class, manufacturer, etc. You will also find owner reviews and comparative tire tests.

Problem with tire choice... Grippy tires dont last long and tires that last long dont grip well.

Any way, look at each tires UTQG rating as that will give you an idea as to how long they should last Vs how grippy they are. The bigger the # the longer they should last, the Lower the # the more grip they should have.

For tire size.... Use the Tire calculator at Miata.net (its a Java app)
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Note:UTQG rateings are only accurate when compairing tires of the same brand.

I run 215/45/16 Falken RT615's on my car and love them. Not sure how well they would do as a daily driver though. That size is also just a little smaller than stock size as well, but not a major issue. I also was very happy with my BFG KDW2s. I believe they are available in 225/45/16 and I bet that would be just fine. They are a little on the expensive side though.

I'm running Falken Ziex ZE912 for a DD, grippy and excellent in the wet.

cool thanks for the suggestions guys ill check into those and ya i kinda knew i would have to give up grip for life.

the reason i was looking at a 55 sidewall was because there wasn't a big selection for the 215/50 category and i would rather have more tire under me than less ya know??

BFG gforce kdw2. 300AA/A rating. looks crazy and grips pretty well. beefy too. wider than the listed measurement.

i have bfg gforce sport. 340AA/A rating. i'm at about 28k miles and still have lots of tread left. if you're a costco member, they run a $60 off a set of 4 coupon like every other month.
