You are aware that the rear seats weigh almost nothing....right?Ummm actually the rear seats weigh a ton! LOL! Somewhere in the area of 40lbs or so. I have seen people say they have weighed in at 70lbs but i think that is a bit far fetched.

If someone makes one I'll buy it but I am WAY too unmotivated to make my own. The one in honda tuning was nice, that company makes it for eg and ek.

well i found the issue of honda tuning that featured the rear seat delete: MAY 2008 ISSUE

the company website for the kit : http://www.customrearseatdelete.com

it says it has a "race" kit that weighs about 20 lbs

i wonder if we had enough interest they would make one for the ep

^^^^
I saw that kit when they first came out with it. It weighs about as much as just the seat backs. If you take out the seat bottom and head rests and fold the seats down it is almost the same for $0.

Why are we taking out a nice, good looking rear seat again?

You do realize it's 2008 and not 1999...

LMAO @ taking out the 40 pound rear seats and replacing them with a 20 pound delete kit. Why not just go on a diet and lose 20 lbs.....

Heys guys,

This Keith from the above mentioned site. I am not "hip" on all of the linggo for the Civic platforms so I will refer to them as years. We do plan on making kits for the 2001 and up Hatchbacks and coupes hopefully before the year is out as well as the eg and ek (i think, 96-00) coupes. If anyone is interested in any of these years please contact me through the website so we can judge interest to see which kits will be available first.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

These kits are also available with woofer boxes that will go under the kit keeping the clean look. The box can either go where the backseat used to be or by the spare tire well. Look at the customer rides section of the site and you can see many exaples of stereo installs. I would post Civics up on the site, but none of the people who bought the kits have submitted pics.

Thanks Keith

i like the idea cause im tired of being the "taxi" with all my friends i took my seats out at one point and just didn't like the way it looked. i don't care about weight savings i just like the fact that it looks clean one piece from rear seat to trunk.

id be interested in one for my ep if they made one

How much of a difference does it make taking out the back peices of the ep. Anybody know with times to back it up or weights of the peices. If nobody does then when I do this I will weigh everything and post it.

it has been posted by grassroots, search for it
i had every thing gutted behind the front seats at one time and the car weighed about 2,500lbs with about 1/8tank of gas. now im full interior

edit: i still had sound deadening material and i think its about 38lbs worth

if you remove backseats, spare tire, tools, rear floor mat, rear deck lid, you save about 95LB!
That is a lot of mass.

I wouldnt mind the 20lb extra for the look and weight saving.
