The Story
Alright, so here is the situation...i bought my tein s-tech springs used with 5k on them for basicly nothing...called tein, asked if the serial number matched for the ep3, it came up as "YES, its for the ep3"...so i said great and installed them with koni shocks...

they never felt right and i was confused...weird...

...skip ahead...

installed sways, "THIS WILL BE MUCH BETTER!!"

...still not that great...

...skip ahead...

out in philly and my friend Anthony (soprano21) has tein s-techs...
my car is sitting A LOT lower, WTF he has more miles on his s-techs...

...i call tein, and the part number comes up as "for the ep3", but then the guy at tein double checks it a different way and finds out
MY SPRINGS ARE FOR AN EM2

...my fears are confirmed!!...

THE SITUATION
so now that you are up to date ill tell you whats up...I CANNOT drive around anymore on very undersprung spring rates, i need close to tein stechs for the ep3, but i dont want the ride height of the ep3 tein stechs, i want as close to the drop i have now, but i dont want to stiffen my car up to the level of the H&Rs, otherwise id buy those...

So i am thinking the progress springs will be just about right, 280/500lbs and 1.8/1.5 drop which sounds decent...

does anyone have;a picture of a car lowered on konis with progress, experience with this shock spring combo, or just any pic with the progress drop and experience with those...

...OR if someone has any input on what i should look at instead??

I AM NOT GETTING COILOVERS, IT WOULD COST A LOT TO REPLACE THE DAMPENING OF MY KONIS

...plus the price on progress is really good...

here are the pics of the drop i have now and it in comparison to soprano21s drop

THANKS A LOT GUYS!!!

OH and i should add i would mind a half inch of ride height in the rear, a slight raked drop like progress wouldnt bother me...i just need these EM2 springs OFF ASAP

what about the h&R, your pretty close to that height on your teins. The progress springs would be a good pickup also.

before i had the same problem you had, em springs,

I'm dropped on progress as well. Not a terribly good pic, but it gives you the idea.

The slips are 16" w/ 225/45 btw

well i dont want the H&Rs cuz they are pretty stiff compared to the progress and this is WAY too much of a street car, so i need the ride to be as good as possible while have a fairly stiffer ride over stock...i like the s-tech/progress cuz they are slightly stiffer than even the type r, which makes a lot of sense to me since there was a lot of tuning that went into the type r geometry...i think the top gear comparison is a perfect example of how the REAL stock setup is...

i say that because the USDM stock suspension setup is a joke and its sad how much work i have to do just to counteract that in itself

hmm, your OD on the wheels/tires is a little bigger than 205/50/16s that i rock...so logic tells me my wheel gap will be a little more than yours???

thanks man!!

OH and what are you doing in the rear to clear the tires in the wheel wells?

i had to neg 1 degree to miss the lip with 205s and i destroyed the 225s BFGs that came on my wheels just driving 15miles to the tire place...

Actually, your tires are slightly bigger with a 102.5 mm sidewall, while mine are only 101.25 mm.

As for my wheel wells, they're stock and I still have a ton of room now with the 225/45. I used to run 225/50's and I only rubbed whenever I had people in the back. It's been so long since my last alignment, but I think I only had them dial in -.9 in the back and I have yet to rub.

What offset are your wheels? The slips I'm using are +40.

ahhh, gotcha, oops i guess i was off :mangel:

all the same, im impressed, maybe i rubbed so bad cuz of my crappy springs...

my wheels type s 16s so they are stock offset, which is basicly the same as yours...

wicked...ill give it another week then ill make my decision and order springs...so any other input from anyone else would be really appreciated...

i've seen the H&R's in a press and they arent as stiff as s-techs or progress.
Most people think they're stiffer but its just because you have like an inch of travel untill you're on the bumpstops, and since they're not actually that stiff, you get there pretty easily.

i was going off their ratings and the fact that they were saying they were a lot stiffer...

either way, ive ridden in a car with the H&Rs and it was a lot more uncomfortable than my friends car with s-techs...

ive pretty much decided now though that i dont want to go as low as the H&Rs because it would be lower than my setup now and i dont want to risk my exhaust...

don't risk that exhaust whatever you do.
I was in no way suggestin H & R, i think they're the shittiest springs on the planet, they're far too low, far too soft, and this makes them feel like shit and corner crappy.

I had progress/dspec set up. I hated it.
