I have a 2002 EP. Scored these locally for myself for my bday. These come with Genuine JDM HID porjectors & Phillips Ballasts. (see pix)

I am not an expert and I've got a few questions....

1. I think I am missing a few rubber washers on top of the high & low beams....are they really required? The old owner never had them.
2. Do you JDM projector guys have the high beams working? How you guys wire it?
3. what is the cleanest way to install these?? Are there adoptors that I can get to pug into the H4 socket so I can run the wires for both highbeam & low beam? I don't want to do a butcher job and have stuff short out since it does get wet in the engine bay.
4. I am thinking that I can replace the blue adoptor w/ the wires hanging out with something that plugs straight into the H4 wire from the car??

Anyone who has an 2002 with projectors or lighting experts please chime in. I don't really just want to stuff the loose wires into the H4 socket.

THANKS!!!

Try Searchin thru the Exterior Section of the forum... there's tons of info now with this info... I personally made my own harness

Depending where your at Maybe i can help you with this harness...

requires 2 relays some bits of wire and connectors and such

lots of time and maybe some pizza and beers

the simplest way to do it for 02-03 is to cut the clip off of your socket and take the power wire and connect it to the red wire on the ballast
you then need to buy a 9006 clip from autozone or something and take the red wire and run it to the same place.
then you take one ground off your old clip and plug it to your black ballast wire and the other one to the low beams.
In our cars one wire gives power and the other 2 wires are grounds.
If you want to do it that way gimme a PM and i'll give you a better explanation.
but I reccomend you find someone who knows how to do it with relays

You can do it that way but you run the risk of your wires over heating from the amperage needed to light the HID's Which IMO isnt a big deal its for a split second I ran my HID's this way for a long time no issues Goodluck...

Thanks for the input guys.

I was thinking of getting this:

http://www.kbcarstuff.com/Headlight_Wiring_Harness_p/wirehar.htm

which takes care of the different amperage problems.....then I was thinking of splicing/opening/modding that adaptor so I can tap back into the high beam power to hook up the high beams. Going to get my hands on the wiring harness first either way so I can install these bad boys.

D3xn2o:

thx for the offer but unfortunately, I am about 8 hrs away in Toronto....let me do some searching in the exterior section...I've been using the search button but I didn't seem to find the right "looking" hits...I'll try again. :)

v1c10us:

I am a little confused about what you said re: that only 1 wire giving power & 2 being ground. How does the car differentiate turning on the high beams? (from the diff power output?) If that is the case...I am guessing if I splice the power, I'd be able to hook it up to the high beams and that would work????

I guess what I need to do today is to search for the plug for the high beam which I presume is the same as the USDM one

You can operate a 2 filament bulb 2 ways
It can be negatively switched or positively switched.
In the 02-03 ep's case it is negatively switched meaning that there is a constant power to both filaments and when you turn your high beams on the ground from the lowbeams is disconnected, disengaging the filament and the ground for the highbeams is connected, engaging the highbeam filament.
You can attach both the highbeam power wire and the lowbeam power wire to your original power wire.(in this case the lowbeam power wire would be the power wire for the ballast/ignitor)
Then You would take the ground from your ballast/ignitor and hook it up to the low beam ground from you're original clip and take the highbeam ground and connect it to the remaining ground wire. (I cant recal which ground is which but it shouldnt be too hard to figure out)
In order to do this you will need to purchase a Hi-temp headlight socket for the highbeam bulb; they look like this
http://autolumination.com/images/auto_bulbs/9004_9007_wm.jpg
you can purchase these at autozone or advance autoparts.
So you would use the wires off of that to splice to your original 3 wire clip.
as someone said there is a slight risk of frying your wires but I dont think its that big of a risk, with modern ballasts of good quality its even less of an issue in my opinion.

Just buy the Adaptor from Wayne at Speedstar, Explain your application and he will have a custom harness for you for direct plug and play

Speedstar FTW

Just sent him a PM! Thanks dude! :mcool: How did you overcome the DRL issue with Canadian cars?

Did a little more leg work and looks like I am missing all the rubber plugs...

going to need:

2x 33126-sOA-003
2x 33126-S6A-J61

I hope Honda doesn't charge an arm & leg for these things.

[edit] I think the wiring is $100 bones at speedstar..................damn!

I gotta find a place in Toronto that sells these badboys......I rather cut & spice some wires if its going to save me $50 bones!

Being a JDM ballar isn't cheap!! :(

i know you can get those things off the internet for like 12 bucks
its definitely not worth paying 100 bucks for the harness, this is incredibly easy for me to do, so it shouldnt be that hard for anyone else cause Im not that good with wiring.

The harness is 200 bones!!!!! I ordered a set of xenondepot wires which is back ordered for a couple of weeks. Once i see how those are set up, i should have a better idea of what i need to do.

Any 12V shop could install these. The one that deal with alarm subs and amps. They constantly deal with relays too.

one of the ballast is dead. :mfrown: Signed up for hidplanet to look for another.

I know it probably makes more sense to get a new kit but I am too lazy to redo the wiring

dont forget if they are true JDM they are not set up for lhd and you are going to be blinding oncoming traffic. You should have swapped with the tsx projectors glare shield in there. You can find those on HID planet too.

Did you do a custom wiring harness? was it powered off of the battery? Did you use two relays in your harness?

I got a XD philips wiring harness that has the relays & such. Its powered from the battery. I am aware of the RHD issue....going to address it eventually.

the LHD RHD issue isn't as big of a deal in projectors, (not sure if you have the halogen projectors or Hid projectors, but either way) Theres no glare persay, you just have a thin dim flick of light going towards people which in my opinion is way less anoying than when a car with projectors behind me goes over a bump or something.
