I'm riding on progress springs and my friend just took some tires off of a bmw at work and said he could put them on my car for free today if i want.
They're a 225/50/r16, I currently have 205/50/r16
I think he only has the fronts though so my questions are..
will it look stupid with the fronts bigger than the rears by however much that is,
am I gonna rub with those tires? my offsets +45 or something like that.

you probably wont rub... the 225/50 is the same size diameter as a 205/55, which is stock on the 04-05... there will be a difference, and maybe even noticable, but not a big deal imo

well I think I'll try them on the front and if its no good I'll put them on the back.
When I take the tires un inflated with no weight on them and put it against my exsisting tires its damn close to the fender.

you shouldnt have rubbing problems, people run this size all the time and even bigger... and you are more likely to rub on the rear then you are on the front.

really? even though the rear isnt as low as the front and the wheels dont have to turn?

Definitely. It has more to do with the way the fenders are shaped than anything. I rubbed a little in the rear with 225/50/16's on a progress drop whenever I had people in the back. It didn't rub enough to do any real damage, but i'll be damned if it didn't sound awful.
