just get the hondata reflash. No one on here would put that on their car. You can always upgrade from the reflash to k-pro later on for $500

should i get all of my mods done before i reflash, or doesnt it matter?

it's up to you. I would go reflash first, then the mods. Only because once you finish with i/h/e you will want more and then all you have to do is upgrade to k-pro. But I know I got my k-pro for 859 with return shipping. So had I got the reflash first and then upgraded to k-pro I would have essentially forked out another $200 in the end.

you can buy the reflash from a lot of vendors, but most if not all require you to ship the reflash to Hondata in SoCal

you can get a reflash from any dealer as long as you know they are autherized to sell hondata stuff

Yeah Hondata is expensive but it's worth it if you depend on doing major mods to your car. If you only plan on bolt ons then go with the Hondata Reflash.

Speaking from experience, do it right the first time, or spend more money in the long run fixing problems. Not to be harsh, but if you can't afford it then just simply don't mod.

The reason there are so many Hondata fanatics on this board is because it's tried and proven. E-manage will work but you're still looking at a similar price to the reflash. Your best bet is to wait around for the Christmas specials that vendors have, I picked up K-Pro for around $720 and some change.

how much horsepower are you wanting eventually? throwing that kind of money on NA seems a little much, imo.

especially 5g's on the a3 is a waste. It would be better to go the k20a2, k24a2, or a k20/24 frank. Then build those a bit. Better money spent especially if you do all your own work.

I would stay away from that venom scam. I know for a fact that, it does NOT work at all. Couple years back, my buddy put that in his civic and didint feel a thing. Also a guy at work bought it for his mustang gt and claims that didint do anything for his car.

5g's is a little excessive to spend on a A3, especially without boosting it...however I don't want to fall into the traditional "everyone's doing it" scene...even thought that's where the true power lies. that money wouldn't be all into the motor either, that's my current spending limit for the whole car. I plan on dropping it all in parts at once when I get home from the desert...and my car will just be out of service for awhile.

modding the A3 for NA is like pissing in a wet suit, the only one who will notice is yourself, a slight warm feeling and then it just gets uncomfortable.

You will dump countless thousands on a NA A3 and someone with a simple K24A1/A4 swap will walk you for far less money.

Good god, don't even think of buying one. I can send you a red led that turns on at a certain rpm if you'd like.

try not to miss judge or take anything the wrong way... granted being different is nice, but slow isnt... so absorb the information these guys send you becouse it will most def save you alot of money in the end.... trust me on that one, im speaking from the same steps you plan on walking....

5gs can get you alot... as long as you listen... laters mang and be safe out there...

Everyone is right, that you should consider going boost or swap for real power.

But if you dont have a buck to throw at a full fledged Kpro, get the reflash and upgrade when you got the $$ and are ready for boost or swap.

While not mentioned much on this board, European CTR owners use Unichip as an alternative to Kpro. Its similar to the older k100 series chips in that you cant adjust them outside of the tuner shop, but it can affect the same engine parameters, and the base model reflash from the factory outperforms teh hondata reflash with bolt ons.

Check out their website, its only like $350 for the base reflash from Unichip right now.
