maybe it is the transmission fluid...my a3 tranny is like that at times...not super hard but sometimes I can feel the gears when I'm shifting on a cold morning but when it is hot, it goes in like a hot knife through butter...

What exactly do you mean by hard to shift? Is it just stiff at the shifter or are the gears grinding or notchy?

Think about when was the last time you changed your tranny fluid, if you cannot remember it was too long ago.
It sounds like its time for a tranny flush n fill.

It could be your flywheel or your fluid is toast.. Easiest thing to do is drain the fluid and fill it up.. On another note 98% of the time oem is better than aftermarket so buddyclub has a good product but it could be off by just a hair making it hard to shift.. I dunno though
