I tinted the side markers and painted my 'debadged' civic emblem. (I wanted to test the color before I painted my "H"'s.

Nice Job they look great!! :p

How many coats of paint did u use??

For the side markers:

Clean them with Simple Green and dry them off well.
Sand with 2000 grit wet sand paper (This gives the paint a better surface to adhere to).
Place in a well ventilated area on a piece of card board or news paper
I started with approx 3 coats. When I put the ambers down (After painting the reds) I added 2 more coats. I did 5 straight on the ambers (Approx).
I let them dry (laquer can't be clear coated. At least, I couldn't find a clear coat for laquer.)

The badge was also cleaned and sanded. Then I put 2 or 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear.

That looks REALLY good! Are you gonna put the Civic Badge back?

that looks real nice. After you pull off the Civic badge, is it possible to pop it back in?

ssvr6

Nah, the civic badge isn't going back on. I had it laying around and wanted to test the paint job on there first. I guess you could try to reattach it, but it wouldn't look too hot IMO.

I'll be painting my "H" badges. The front one pops out and I'm buying a new rear one. I'll just remove the old one and paint the new one.

The Si's are coming off as well. Less is always more. ;)

Now, I just need to get a new rear "H" and remove the front one and I'll be all done. I'm also going to be removing my Injen intake and painting it as well.

Good work, Steve... Getting those pesky reflectors colored in makes a huge difference! I was so happy once I had them painted on my car.

I can't remember if it's been answered before --

What color/type of paint did you use? Would Honda nighthawk black touchup paint be useful?

I've been trying to decide between tinting the markers and getting clear ones for my black EP, and at the moment, I think the cost/looks ratio is very much in favor of tinting.

Si02

So you sprayed you side markers black or used tint on them?

Those look great. I was concerned with how the would reflect still, but they look like they still reflect well in your photos. What paint did you use, and where did you get it?

All questions can be answered here (http://www.geocities.com/epcivicsi/sidemarkers.htm).

(I bought the paint at a hobby shop.)

Hey steve you think that tint would be suitable to to the rear taillamps? I want my tail light housings tinted black, VW style

If I was you, I'd have them done by a professional. I had the ones on my Passat done and it was definitely worth it.

After: ($75 later....Tail Lights, Side Markers, and Indicators were tinted.)

Thanks.

It had Front and Back air bag suspension, a decent audio system and not really any performance. :)

It certainly turned heads and was a freaking money pit!

As long as we're sharing former Rangers... :)

My '99 Autumn Orange SuperCab (http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/totw/totw_010326.html)

Never went truly nuts on it, but keep in mind all of that was done on a leased vehicle...

Talk about oldskool....97 Portafino Blue Ranger....
What a money pit that thing was back in the day! I bagged it, 4 link rear suspension, shaved ass end, etc.. ALOT of time and $$
I dont have any better pics with me at the moment, but here:
