There is no benefit to using a higher octane fuel than the manufacturer recommends in the manual. 87 is fine for our cars.

More octane != More power. If a car requires premium, there's a reason. If it doesn't, there's also a reason. Here are some links to support that.

I've been putting what it says in the Manual, nothing less than 86. I've put 93 octane and saw that is was buring much faster, now I use 87 and it works great.

NOTE: this are my own observations, you might see other things with your car (Driving habits).

I always use 87. The only time I used 89 my exhaust smelled like a nasty fart! :D

Oh, and do a search for this topic, it has been hashed over before.

Yes, this topic has been debated to death. I don't see a reason to put in anything higher than 87 if Honda states that the minimum is 86. I used to put in 92 when I first got the car but now that I've switched to 87, I don't see a difference in gas mileage or performance.

It is good to put in 92 octane every 3 months or every oil change because it helps keep your fuel system clean. Other than that I just use 87 octane.

I've been using 89 since day 1 but may switch to 87 since the manual is ok with it and others have found it works just fine. I also get that nasty smell sometimes and I'm at 5400 miles. I thought it would go away by now but maybe I should change octanes. I don't know how that makes the smell go away but I'll try it.
