pin striping

i purchased my ep a couple of years ago, and now i want to get rid of the hideous pin striping on the sides. the striping is not a sticker, it is paint...does anybody know a safe way to get rid of it myself without having to re-paint everything, or take it to get done? i was gonna try paint thinner, however i dont want to screw up the surrounding paint too....please help!

goes it have clear coat over it ? if so, then you have to repaint it. if not then laquer thinner will do the trick, just take your time on it

if its vinyl, a hair dryer and a credit card will get it off. follow up with some go-gone or other adhesive remover.
