Took out my seats today and was wondering what some of you have done to dress it up a little? I like the look of not having them but i can just see something ripping out that fuel pump wire :meek: and wana cover it up somehow

Just put the bottom cushion back on. The thing is really light and makes your car a little more usable.

Wow i never thought of that. Yeah that part is really light, most of the weight was the seat backs. Thanks!

I just put the cargo cover over it. You may have to possition it just right so it doesnt move around too much when cornering. Just a really cheap way to cover it up.

i took a piece of black fabric (felt) from joannes and spray glued it down to the whole gutted rear seating and hatch area. It looks cleaner.

i just put the seat bottom back on also. I also put the cover for the spare back on and it looks pretty decent. The only thing i'm going to do is get a thin piece of fabric to cover the gap that the seat back cover up.

I want to remove my back seats but I always have more than one person riding with me. I'll probably do it eventually and see if I like it or not

I dont have pictures of the rear gutted with the fabric overlay because i put the interior back in again, but It really is nice. The hardest part is getting the fabric tucked under all the panels.

that sounds good too. what i have done though is got a bucket of soap and water and scrubbed the piss out of all the metal in the back so its all clean and i kinda like the way that looks :msmile:

Is the inside of the car any louder? I heard some people complain about increased noise.

Your removing something that absorbs sound... it will be louder.

I just used a piece of foam-backed vinyl I got from work. Cut to fit and shove the extra up under the plastic pieces and carpet in the front.

I am pulling the front seats and carpet this weekend(dont have rear seats) and i will be reoving all the stock insulation crap. Then I will treat the chassis sheet metal with chassis saver and then spray down some Lizard Skin ceramic sound and thermal insulation. I do not think I will get any new carpet, but will probably use Monsta-liner to cover it all. My aim is not weight reduction but sound and corrosion protection. Chassis-Saver is a isocyanate based sealer that wicks into every little nook and cranny, sealing it from ever developing or stopping corrosion in it's tracks.

Hopefully Chassis-Saver is better than POR15; it goes on great but doesn't seem to last very long in northern climates.

To the OP, if I were really concerned about the pump wire I would get some small plastic wire loom and run it over the wire right up to the pump. Then stick it down in a way that I thought would last (hot glue, super glue, some kind of tape). Or I suppose you could run some good adhesive tape (like actual duct work tape, not ducktape) over the wire and stick it to the floor, then cover it in what suits you.

Chassis-saver is hands down worlds better than POR15, We have cleaned and coated several trucks frames and havnt seen the beginnings of a failure in 4 years of winters and offroading.

I used the gloss black, but it is available in satin black(both blacks turn dark grey eventually), Aluminum filled, and a light grey.

Also all the serious 4x4 guys are using ChassiSaver on their rigs. I have a feeling that this is due to all the county, state and local road crews use this on the trucks and snow removal equipment, and they are all dedicated rednecks and are into serious offroading.
