There are special sockets for rounded nuts, I cant say if they actually work or not.

Were you useing a 6 sided socket?
Another option after trying the 6sided socket and if it fails, then use a pair of NEW visegrips and try them, if those fail use a dremel and a cutoff wheel to remove the nut.

maybe you can also try a box end wrench

many companies make "easy outs" irwin, the maker of vise grips, makes a great set, well, two sets from 3/16 - 1" just use the size that is slightly higher , eg. for 13mm use 9/16". they may have some in metric sizes but the standard will work fine. you will want to get a new bolt wether you use vise grips or easy outs.

Only a 6sided one, no 12 sided ones.

It is a nut he rounded off, not a bolt.

its still a hex, the premise still works

take a grinder/dremel to it, re-shape the hex

when i was doing my coilovers i fell into the same problems in my rears. found a bolt slightly round so i got my 14mm and tried it and it rounded it even more. i tried vice grips but only made it worst. then i tried a nut splutter and made it even more worst. then i used a cold chisel and hammer and it fianally spun. i have pictures of the killed nut if you want to see it.
