Just got back from my first time drag racing

My ep is stock, except for rear seat removal

Ran it a few times, best et was 16.082 @ 86.67mph

I was preaty happy with that, most of my runs were in the 16.2's and my highest trap was 87.35 with a time of 16.103. ran a 16.4 once cause i missed third

reaction times were .5 to .7 going at the green. Some guy told me to go at the last yellow to get the best start but i was afraid of jumping the line.

60 foots were consistant 2.4's with one 2.3

Are these good times for a stock ep? And what about my r/t's and 60 foots?

Racing's fun!:mcool:

racing IS fun lol!
i'd say for your first time out your 60' times are really good! especially on a stock ep. 2.3 is veryyy good. your traps are pretty high too.. looks like you're a pretty good driver!

Thanks for the input and compliments! :msmile:

You think high 15's are possibly w/o mods?

Reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. You can sit at the light for a minute before leaving and it won't effect your run.

What kind of tires were you running? What PSI? Did you go through, or around the water box?

Ok, i wasnt sure if that effected the e/t or not, thanks! I burned out in the water box a little before each run. I have toyo proxes 4's at the standerd 30psi. wasn't planning to run today, but it wasn't very crowded so i decided to go for it :mcool:

IMO go around the water box. unless you're running slicks it won't really help you. and you should drop your psi down next time.. u should see a difference :)

well at least u had a good exp with ur first time. the first time i went it was taking forever cause one of the lanes was closed down cause there was a home charger game that week, and on my very first run, my radiator hose blew. i should have exspected my first time to go bad considering all i have is bad luck with my car.

but congrats on first time running

Dropping pressure on radial street tires is worthless. The belts aren't made to flex the same way a drag radial would.

One is better off running near the reccomended PSI.

Its so tempting on the street too.... Im not stupid enough to street race though :p. Especially in my slow mouse.

high 15s are very possible. when i went to the strip i kept running low 16's just like you. i finally got my time down to a best of 15.8 @ 88mph

You will still gain contact patch by air'ing the tire down some. Especially if you're running 30-35psi in them. I have dropped pressure in regular street tires to 15-20ish and had better results. On DR's I run 12psi, slicks 10psi or less.

Also try to avoid the water box. Go around it, back into it a bit and just spin briefly to get any debris off your tires. Best thing to do is try to relax. Don't focus on hitting the green so much as your launch. In a manual I don't even worry about the guy in the other lane. Auto's are different since there's a hell of a lot less technique in getting them off the line.

Keep in mind I'm coming from a hardcore drag racing scene with big cube domestics. My last car went 13.56 bone stock.

Congrats on your runs. The frist time out I hit a 16.3, 16.2 and 16.1 but I had CAI/Exhaust :mconfused:.

It is definately a rush!
