Hey everyone im from Jersey here and im considering selling my current 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer for a 2004 EP3. Mainly because the Lancer responds horribly to basic bolt ons. Dynos have proven that with all the basic bolt ons available for a lancer it actually looses HP. :mcry: anyway the EP3 is in my price range its about $11k with 42,000miles. Ive been doing some research and i saw the EP3 responds pretty well to basic bolts ons. Any way any advice on the EP3 or any opinions are welcome. I have no knowledge of the EP3 or anything so feel free to fill me in on pros and cons:mbiggrin:

Here are some pics of my current ride

Clean car dude! Yeah the EP3 certainly won't LOSE power under basic bolt-ons, but one thing I'd consider is this: If you EVER want more power than you'll get from bolt-ons, you pretty much have no choice but to turbo it and do all the tuning, or swap. That's when it gets messy and expensive. But if you're happy with bolt-ons on a car and want that reliability, it sounds like the EP is a good choice!

thanks! yeah well with my lancer the only way to get power gains is to go turbo and i dont have the money to shell out for that right now. so bolt ons would work for me because im not racing it or anything. but i do like the look of my lancer just not the performance part

They're dependable and fun to mod for moderate gains. I think it sounds like as long as you're not trying to speed demon it up, it'll be a good match for you.

is there anyone against me getting an EP3? and keeping my lancer?Since it's NOT a lancer "Evolution", DO IT! EP are nice.

The EP isn't exactly a V8. Every bolt-on mod is still a, "Hey I think I feel a difference" modification.

I'd personally base my decision on finances-- whether I can afford a different car & whether it was something I REALLY needed.

are you really asking that question on an ep3 forum site? you'd only get biased answers. sell your lancer and get the ep3! once you go hatchback, you'll never go back!

The way I read it, you're asking if you should get an EP yet keep the Lancer.. Sure, if you can afford it. You'd need the Mitsi as a DD while working on the EP3, if that is your wish.

goood point.. well i dont have payments on my lancer and i think im in a situation where i can sell the lancer and have enough to get the ep3 with no payments or if i have to take out a very small loan but will deff. be affordable

haha ofcourse i should have thought of that :mconfused:
and yeah ive been craving a hatchback hehe

wont be able to keep the mitsu as a DD since im sellign it to pay for my ep3 and i dont think i will be doing that much work on the ep3 that it wont be driveable because it will be my DD

heres a link to the ep3 im looking at..if anyone wants to check it out..looks like its in good shape.. im pretty sure i can talk him down in price considering the front grill tends to be messed up for some reason:mfrown: looks like it's lowered and has an intake, and tint.

^ That pretty much sums it up for me. No really I have had my ep3 for a good amount of time 3-4 years and I still enjoy driving it everyday. I have the basic bolt ons and while it is not the fastest car in the block it is sure hell-a fun. It is also one of those cars you don't see a ton of soon as you get one, still rare (for me) to see one on the open road.

Like anything in life do some research on it before you commit, Ephatch as a ton of info ..check out the engine section or swap
